Solution
Arizona’s Healthcare Information Exchange
The State Health Information Exchange (HIE) helps states embrace innovative approaches that enable healthcare providers to share and access patients’ medical record data electronically. HIE is an important aspect since it also helps to secure medical records since, in most healthcare facilities, medical records are in the form of paper works. The paper focuses on the Health Information Exchange in Arizona compared to other states with similar demographics, including California, Alaska, and Alabama. The focus will be on Arizona’s HIE’s ability to share data and improve coordination of care, public health initiative and evidence-based research.
Arizona’s HIE’s Ability in Sharing Data
Health Information Exchange uses electronic health record systems of clinicians and providers to help them access and share patient information and coordinate care. Jason (2021) states that Arizona uses Health Current, which connects over 500 Arizona healthcare facilities such as hospitals, first responders, and labs, among other facilities. The better part of using HIE in Arizona is that the patient gets notified when the healthcare facilities make their health information available in the Health Current. Jason (2020) states that the Health Current in Arizona launched a cloud-based platform known as Healthcare’s Health Data Hub to improve data sharing. The platform aims at promoting interoperability and increasing the safety of participating healthcare systems.
Comparison of Arizona’s HIE’s Ability in Sharing Data with California, Alaska, and Alabama
Unlike Arizona’s progress, California is still struggling to ensure that they can consolidate a lot of health information in their system, considering that the State has various privacy laws that govern health data sharing (Health, 2021). For Alaska, the State incorporates Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC), which has greatly contributed to Alaska’s HIE expansion that enables healthcare facilities across Alaska to easily and securely share patients’ medical records (Nelson, 2021). Just like Alaska and Arizona, Alabama’s HIE also increases its ability in data sharing through One Health Record joining the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaboration (SHIEC) to extend its health data access and services in rural areas for better State’s health outcome encounters (Monica, 2018). Therefore, like most States, Arizona aims to engage in more secure health data sharing to improve the overall patient outcome in their states by incorporating advanced technology in their health systems.
Arizona’s Healthcare Information Exchange Functions
The main functions of Arizona’s HIE include improving coordination of care, public health initiative and evidence-based research. Jason (2020) indicates that Arizona is one step ahead of other States that use HIE due to its incorporation of Health Data Hub. All healthcare organizations that use Health Data Hub can easily create, manage, and optimize their workflow while providing patient data and optimizing the systems data aggregation across the system. Hence, it becomes easy for the healthcare providers to coordinate care, public health initiatives, and conduct evidence-based research. In coordinating care, the healthcare providers can easily search for clinical and patient information that helps them to improve care.
Regarding public health initiatives, Health Data Hub helps healthcare facilities identify areas with high preferences of diseases to design meaningful ways to help curb the situations (Jason, 2021). For instance, before identifying the issues in different areas, the clinical researchers can help healthcare organizations in Arizona identify the situations requiring fast remedies. The researchers can analyze the patient data in evidence-based practices since the data is readily available to the authorized personnel. Hence, Arizona’s HIE’s an essential approach that provides meaningful information that can help healthcare providers improve the overall healthcare outcomes.
Comparison of Arizona’s Healthcare Information Exchange Functions with California, Alaska, and Alabama
California, Alaska, and Alabama’s coordination of care also helps in providing shared data across different institutions and numerous providers. Akhlaq et al. (2017) assert that care coordination is essential since it helps avoid duplicating patients’ services, thus maximizing time to attend to different patients. However, the California care coordination may limit the healthcare providers in achieving full care coordination since the healthcare providers cannot share all information.
Public Health initiatives in Alabama, Alaska, and California help the States identify different communities’ problems. Akhlaq et al. (2017) assert that when a health information exchange helps carry out effective public health initiatives, they can easily initiate and awareness of various conditions. It becomes easy to make informed decisions that help the community members and healthcare providers curb mental health and chronic diseases from bringing along adverse effects.
Healthcare information exchangeability facilitates evidence-Based research to hold the data repository systems. Akhlaq et al. (2017) assert that all states with integrated HIE can easily conduct evidence-based research using readily available data within the systems. As a result, it becomes easy for clinical researchers to also use the data in large volumes. Therefore, just like in Arizona, approved clinical researchers in Alabama, Alaska, and California can easily
conduct effective research to help healthcare providers diagnose and treat the patients using the right procedures, thus increasing patient satisfaction and safety. Despite the effectiveness of the HIE in all four States, the main concern remains on ways to ensure that the health information is subjected to data safety controls which California seems to be more cautious with. However, by Arizona State ensuring that the patients are notified whenever their health data is added to the healthcare system, it increases their trust and confidence.
Conclusion
Arizona’s HIE is greatly comparable with other states with similar demographics. Generally, HIE helps the healthcare providers share and access healthcare data that helps in improving care coordination, public health initiatives, and evidence-based research. However, all states will need to ensure that they have increased measures on patient data security.

Discussion
Comparison of Nursing Standards
The nursing profession is the broadest healthcare profession and plays a critical role in patient care. It is divided into various specialties with unique roles. To promote effective management of nurse professionals regarding their practice, various agencies have been tasked with setting practice standards and defining the scope of practice for nurses. Some of these guidelines include The ANA PHN, California PNH, and ANA Standards of Professional Performance. These standards have similarities and differences.
Similarities
All these standards aim at promoting nursing practice and wellbeing. Besides, they provide a systematic framework to guide nurses regarding patient care promote professionalism, patient safety, better care outcomes, and satisfaction.
Differences
All these bodies use different strategies to attain their common goal. For example, ANA PHN focuses on championing the health of all communities while ANA Standards defines nurse scope of practices that apply to all nurses. In addition, the California PHN standards provide a practice framework governing nurses and nursing education only in California (Pearce et al., 2018).
Importance of Standards of Practice
Standards of practice are critical in nursing practice. They govern nursing practice, thus holding nurses accountable in their roles. They also provide a framework for nurse practice, thus providing quality and safe care. Above all, they promote better patient outcomes, better patient experience, and satisfaction. They also encourage healthcare services by increasing people’s confidence in nurse professionals. These standards guide the nursing practice and inform nursing care by defining nurse practice scope and laying down the framework for nursing practice (Nibbelink & Brewer, 2018).
Nurses as Trusted Sources of Information
Advanced public health nurses are a trusted source of health information for patients because they have access to multiple trusted sources of information such as local authorities, national plans, guidelines, and knowledge acquired while training as a public health nurse. They have a role in providing patient education regarding disease prevention, treatment, and prognosis for health promotion purposes (Fossum, Opsal & Ehrenberg, 2022).

NRS 490 Individual Success Plan

Planning is the key to successful completion of this course and your overall program of study.
The Individual Success Plan (ISP) assignment requires early collaboration with the course faculty and your course mentor.
You will need to establish a plan for successful completion of
(1) deliverables associated with weekly course objectives,
(2), required practice immersion hours, and
(3) deliverables associated with your capstone project.
Access the “Individual Success Plan” resource in the Topic Materials. Read the information in the resource, including student expectations and instructions for completing the ISP document.
Use the “Individual Success Plan” to develop a personal plan for completing your practice hours and how topic objectives will be met. Include the number of hours you plan to set aside to meet your goals.
A combination of 100 supervised clinical hours in community health and leadership areas will be obtained through the application of the objectives listed in the Guidelines for Undergraduate Field Experiences manual.
Practicum immersion experiences are required in a community health setting. Community-based settings should encourage community integration and involvement; expand accessibility of services and supports; promote personal preference, strengths, dignity; and empower people to participate in the economic mainstream.
According to HealthyPeople.gov, educational and community-based programs and strategies are designed to reach people outside of traditional health care settings. These settings may include schools, worksites, health care facilities, and communities. Community health and leadership practice immersion can occur in the same site and in conjunction with the evidence-based project in the NRS-490 course.
If you are a registered nurse in Washington, your practicum experience must include a minimum of 50 hours in a community health setting.
Students should apply concepts from prior courses to critically examine and improve their current practice. Students should also integrate scholarly readings to develop case reports that demonstrate increasingly complex and proficient practice.
Consider the challenges you expect to encounter as you continue the practice hour and competency requirements throughout this course. How might you overcome these challenges?
You can renegotiate these deliverables with your faculty and mentor throughout this course and update your ISP accordingly.
Once your ISP has been developed and accepted by your course faculty, you will have your course mentor sign it at the beginning of, and upon completion of, each assignment that incorporates practice immersion hours. You will track all course practice immersion hours in the ISP.
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent spread of the disease in the U.S. from March 2020, a lot of children have been affected by the virus. Although most children who are infected by Covid 19 do not become as sick as adults while many of them do not show any symptoms, children have been shown to be super-spreaders of covid-19, especially when they are left to conduct activities of daily living such as attending school without any precautions being taken.
The American Academy of Pediatrics has also highlighted that children represent about 16% of all covid-19 cases in the U.S. (Delahoy, 2021). The number of cases of covid-19 in children has therefore consistently risen in the U.S., reaching a high of 24% of cases in March 2021. A small proportion of children will become severely ill with covid-19 and may require to be hospitalized or treated in an intensive care unit. According to the CDC, the cumulative hospitalizations as a result of Covid 19 in children was 49.7 per 100,000 children and adolescents between March 2020 and August 2021 (Suarez-Lopez et al., 2021).
Scholarly research has also indicated that children with health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and obesity will be at higher risk of developing severe illness as a result of covid-19 compared to healthy children (Suarez-Lopez et al., 2021). Scholarly research and has also indicated that children with metabolism conditions, genetic conditions, nervous system conditions, and congenital heart disease will also be at higher risk of serious illness once infected with covid-19. Various researchers have also highlighted the disproportionately higher rate of covid-19 among African-American and Hispanic children compared to non-Hispanic White children (Delahoy, 2021).
Considering the various effects of the covid-19 on children, it’s therefore essential for the legislative arm of the government to support various efforts by both the federal and state governments to curb the spread of covid-19. Your support of various policies related to vaccine mandates, especially in schools with therefore help significantly to increase the rates of vaccination among children and adolescents. The vaccination of children and adolescents is, therefore, important not only to prevent these populations from covid-19 but also preventing the adult population who are at higher risk of developing serious illnesses when infected and who regularly interact with children. Considering that the FDA has recently approved covid-19 vaccines for children from 5 years old, it is important for legislators to support various vaccination drives, including the vaccine mandates that are being implemented in school districts across various states.
I am seeking your support for vaccine mandates in schools because of three main reasons including:
Scientists have clearly shown that children remain significant super-spreaders of covid-19, although they really get significantly sick.
Research has indicated that African-American and Hispanic children are disproportionately affected by COVID.
Leaving children unvaccinated provides a weak link in the population where the next mutation of the covid-19 can occur, leading to another wave of infections.
Implications for the Nursing Profession
The implementation of Covid 19 vaccination mandates in schools across the U.S. can therefore play a significant role in controlling the spread of covid-19 and ensuring that another wave of infection is not witnessed in the future. This can prevent the healthcare system from being overwhelmed, as it has already been witnessed in the past.
Recommendations
I would therefore recommend that legislators introduce new legislation requiring the distribution of Covid 19 vaccines to children in all schools annually until the pandemic subsides.
I would also recommend that all legislators support the vaccine mandates to ensure that a significant proportion of the population and especially children, are vaccinated.

Topic 5 DQ 1
In what ways have global health initiatives had positive and negative impacts on medicine access?
In the late 20th century and the 21st century, there have been numerous global health initiatives that have mainly focused on improving the health of marginalized populations, especially in middle and low-income countries. Global health initiatives have had a significant positive impact on medicine access which have included rapid scale-up and delivery of vital medication, greater stakeholder participation, and avoiding bureaucratic procedures that can hinder the distribution of important medicine (Boyce et al., 2021). Global health initiatives have had a positive impact on medicine, especially in marginalized communities across middle and low-income countries, through the implementation of rapid scale-up of the manufacturing and distribution of vital medication. This has greatly contributed to the improvement of health outcomes in marginalized communities (Olusanya et al., 2021). Global health initiatives have also promoted greater stakeholder participation which has encouraged effective ways of determining the demand for medication in needed areas and efficient distribution of such medication. Finally, global health initiatives have also helped in the avoidance of bureaucratic processes that hinder medication access, especially in marginalized areas. Through avoidance of bureaucracy, global health initiatives have therefore been able to promote the availability, affordability, and safe and effective use of medication in marginalized communities across the world (Olusanya et al., 2021).
On the other hand, global health initiatives have had a negative impact on medicine access which have included the distortion of recipient countries’ national policy and also re-verticalization of management planning and monitoring and evaluation systems (Beaman et al., 2018). Most global health policies have significantly distorted the national policies of the country that receive aid such as medication. Global health initiatives have also ignored the available structures to distribute medication and monopolized management planning monitoring and evaluation systems (Olusanya et al., 2021).
Does this affect global health security? Why or why not?
Global health initiatives, in general, have had a positive effect on global health security by ensuring access to medication in areas where such medication is needed, which helps prevent global outbreaks (Beaman et al., 2018).

What factors are important to consider when leading teams at the executive level? What aspects are essential in identifying appropriate members for teams and ensuring the teams are successfully launched? What factors are important to ongoing team dynamics? Policy Organization and Financing Healthcare – WK RESP 2
Topic : What are the barriers to nurses’ participation in the development of health care policy at the state or national level or in an organization in the United States? Why do you think these are barriers? Support your opinion with a rationale or example.
Response 1: Jessica
When I think of nursing, I think of advocating for our patients. When I think of nurses being involved in the development of health care policy, I think of nurses advocating for everyone who will benefit from the policy. With advocating for public policy my biggest barrier is time, “advocacy is time-consuming and requires a significant commitment on the part of the nurse” (J., M. D., B, G. D., Freida, H. O., & T., O. E. (2015). According to the article, “Factors influencing nurses participation in health policy-making process”, “findings of present review revealed that insufficient knowledge on the health policy making is one of the important reasons of nurses’ non-involvement in health policy making” (Hajizadeh, Zamanzadeh, Kakemam. 2021).
These two barriers are reasons why many nurses don’t get involved in policy making in my opinion. We often are too busy to take the time to be involved in policy making. We have families, full time jobs, work extra hours just to make ends meet. Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system, it only makes sense that we get more involved because often, we are the ones who put the new policies into action. Not knowing how healthcare policy is developed is another barrier that goes along with not having enough time to invest in developing healthcare policy. As nurses we tend to stick with what we know how to do and developing new healthcare policies typically isn’t one of those things.
Nurses should be more involved with developing healthcare policy because we see how theses polices affect patients daily. We are familiar with our populations needs within our communities. We would be hugely beneficial to the development of new healthcare policies.
Response 2: Ashley
Some of the barriers to nurse’s participation in the development of health care policy include lack of education, fear of retribution, and time. While nurses are healthcare professionals that are well educated in their profession there may be a lack of knowledge in understanding policy at the state or national level.
Unfortunately, the Nursing policies are often written by individuals that have little knowledge in the healthcare field. Nurses being able to have a voice in the policies that affect their work environment will be ideal not only to their careers, but the patient care provided. For example, the nurse to patient ratio should be a policy that should be written by and voiced by nurses while they have the experience of what it is to work with 6 individuals with unique patient care plans.
The barriers of lack of knowledge, fear of retribution and time hinder allowing a safe environment for nurses to work in. I believe that nurses should be encouraged to participate despite these barriers, Because, who better than nurses, know what is to work in the field?

I agree with you that two of the main barriers that hinder nurses from being consistently involved in advocacy and the development of health policy is the lack of adequate time and the lack of sufficient knowledge related to policy development and advocacy. Considering the two barriers to nurses’ active involvement in advocacy and health policy development which include the lack of adequate time to be involved in advocacy and health policy development and insufficient knowledge related to advocacy and health policy development, numerous interventions can be adopted. The most effective interventions to enhance the involvement of nurses in advocacy and health policy development would include the utilization of adequate nursing staffing ratios in healthcare facilities so as to reduce my workload and ensure that nurses have time to be involved in advocacy and policy development. Nurses also require sufficient education on advocacy and health policy development, including continuous training and seminars to boost their involvement in such activities (Williams et al., 2018).

Reply2: Ashley
I agree with you that the lack of time and lack of adequate skills related to advocacy and health policy development are the main hindrances for nurses’ participation in the development of such healthcare policy. Nurses require to be provided with opportunities for continued education, especially advocacy and health policy development. Healthcare facilities should consistently provide nurses with consistent education and training, such as through seminars and workshops on the strategies that such nurses can utilize to be more involved in health care policy development and advocacy. Healthcare facilities also need to ensure that they have the right nurse staffing ratios to avoid understaffing. Having the right staffing ratios can therefore help nurses to have adequate time to be involved in advocacy and health policy development (Anders, 2020).

NURS 6630 Week 5: Therapy for Patients with Bipolar Disorders

NURS 6630 Week 5: Therapy for Patients with Bipolar Disorders
Assignment: Assessing and Treating Patients with Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder is a unique disorder that causes shifts in mood and energy, which results in depression and mania for patients. Proper diagnosis of this disorder is often a challenge for two reasons: 1) patients often present as depressive or manic but may have both; and 2) many symptoms of bipolar disorder are similar to other disorders. Misdiagnosis is common, making it essential for you to have a deep understanding of the disorder’s pathophysiology. For this Assignment, as you examine the patient case study in this week’s Learning Resources, consider how you might assess and treat patients presenting with bipolar disorder.
To prepare for this Assignment:
Review this week’s Learning Resources, including the Medication Resources indicated for this week.
Reflect on the psychopharmacologic treatments you might recommend for the assessment and treatment of patients requiring bipolar therapy.
