This research paper will have multiple elements. 1. Share in detail, the primary aspects of the Concert Promotion and Touring business as it relates to the music industry. (This info will primarily be found in the slides provided and in the resources found here: Billboard.com, MusicBizWorldwide.com, IEBA.org, DigitalMusicNews.com, MusicRow.com, MusicBiz.org) 2. . Include a section in your paper that addresses the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the touring industry and how it has specifically impacted touring artists, road crews, concert buyers and venue operators. 3. Include information below from audio interview with Booking Manager. Should be written in essay format, not Q & A. (This audio file of interview has been attached). -Include among other things, who they are, what their title/role is, what they do, and how their work interacts/intersects with all of the other primary people (the artist, tour manager, personal manager, booking agent, etc.) working on the concert promotion and touring side of the industry. – Also include: 1. What are the functions of the person you’re interviewing? What’s a “Day in the Life” like for them today? What is typical under normal circumstances. 2. Describe the relationship between them and the other people they work with? 3. In your Interview… find out how they got started in the business; their educational background; their work experience; how long they’ve been doing what they do (including how long it took them to get to the level they’re at); and any other relevant information regarding their job. 4. Ask their opinion on the “state of the music industry” as a whole, and the “state of the touring business” specifically.

Looking for a minimum of 3000 words, Chicago style formatting, and graphics and bibliography included in the essay. The essay is focused on the hip-hop genre and music today.

Discuss the relationship between music and place, using specific examples. 6. How has the music business responded to piracy? Have they been successful? 7. Discuss the politics of streaming (i.e. who does it benefit, who does it harm?). Does it need to be fixed? How? 8. ‘The history of popular music is partly a history of technologies of storage (Frith, 1996: 226). What does Simon Frith mean by this, and is it a useful way of thinking about the music business? 9. How has digitalization changed the economics of the music business (give specific examples)? Guidance ? Define your terms (and not just the dictionary definition, but using what the course reading says) ? Identify the week relevant to the question and REFER TO THE COURSE READING. You should read more widely than just the pdfs on Moodle, but start with them (and follow their bibliographies)? Focus your answer- you cannot answer EVERYTHING, so summaries the general problem (with examples) and be specific. ? Use your reading list ? Use concrete examples (its fine to use some from the reading but also try and find your own) ? Choose a referencing style (I don’t care which but BE CONSISTENT) ? As a rough guide you should include a reference in each paragraph, and include at least 2 direct quotes from reading. Always say where you have got your information from ? Despite what the question might say it is not asking for your OPINION. You need to make an argument (giving due weight to all sides) and provide EVIDENCE to support your assertions.

Everyone has experience in music! Every member of this class has participated in a musical activity, either as a performer or listener. This assignment asks you to share your musical experiences and opinions. In a short assignment of at least one hundred words, I would like you to write about the role music has in your life. When did you discover that you liked certain music while working out? What music do you listen to when you need to calm down after a rough day or get yourself up and in the mood to head out with some friends? Have you ever learned to play an instrument, sung at school or church, or driven your family crazy drumming on everything around you?

Write a one page description of your goals for an early childhood music program and how you will reach these goals. Goals for an early childhood music program include appropriate environments, equipment, and strategies for reaching these goals.
