Scenario
Scenario Assignment Instructions In the scenario assignments, you are asked to reflect on responses to the presented scenario. This should not just be writing down your first reaction or what you already know. Reflection involves critical thinking, which means rethinking your existing knowledge and previously held opinions in light of what we have learned about theories of ethics, logic, and reasoning. You will need to question your existing knowledge and beliefs. To complete each scenario assignment: Complete the entire scenario. Compose your reflection in a Word document and be sure to address, at a minimum, the following questions: Why do you feel the way you do about the issue presented? Of the four responses offered in the scenario, which do you feel is the most ethical and why? Support your conclusions with evidence and specific examples from the textbook, as well as other sources as needed. Your reflection must be 1-2 pages in length and follow APA formatting and citation guidelines as appropriate. For more information on Scenario read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scenario

Poetry Analysis
Poetry Analysis Rough Draft By the due date assigned, attach the rough draft of your essay as a Microsoft Word document to the Discussion Area. By the end of Week 2, comment on at least two of your classmates’ submissions using the peer review questions provided below. NOTE: This is a two-part assignment. The rough draft is worth up to 80 points of the grade, and the peer reviews are worth up to 20 points. The essay assignment for this week is to compose an essay of at least 750 words in which you offer your interpretation of a literary element (such as theme, imagery, symbolism, or characterization) in one of the assigned poems. You may choose any poem from our Week 1 or Week 2 poetry reading list. If you wish, you may base your paper on the analysis you began in this weeks discussion. Tips for the Essay Open your introduction with an engaging opener, such as a question, quote from the poem, or interesting idea. Then, connect to the poem and mention the title and the author. End your introduction with a thesis statement that interprets one literary element of the poem (such as theme, imagery, symbolism, or characterization). The body paragraphs should support your thesis. Present specific aspects of the poem that help to illustrate your points. Make sure to quote from the poem and analyze specific lines that support your argument. Typically, body paragraphs will contain at least two short quotations each as supporting evidence. Include a strong concluding paragraph that summarizes your main points and explains the significance of the thesis. Finish this paragraph with a strong and satisfying ending. APA Reminder Use APA style for formatting the essay and for source citations. Begin with a title page and use proper font and spacing. End with a separate reference page. Refer to the Week 1 lecture on avoiding plagiarism for an APA essay template and additional resources. Important Note: Do not do any outside research for this essay. This analysis should be your own insights regarding the poem. If you need help, refer to the sample student paper shared in the lecture on themes, and contact your instructor with questions. Peer Responses Peer responses are worth 20 points of this assignments grade, so do not miss out on this important portion of the assignment! Peer reviews are participation and must be completed by the end of Week 1. Remember that all peer responses must be posted by the end of the week to earn credit. Peer Response Questions By the end of the week, respond to two peers essays, using the following questions: Does the introduction have an attention-getting opener? Does the introduction give the author and title of the poem? Does the introduction have a thesis statement as its final sentence? Does the thesis offer an interpretation that is clear and specific? What are your suggestions for the introduction and thesis? Is each body paragraph organized around a key point? Do the paragraphs offer support with direct quotations from the poem? Are the quotes and examples analyzed and explained? Do you disagree with any parts of the analysis? What aspects of the poem are left unexplained? Do you have any suggestions for improving the body paragraphs? Does the conclusion summarize the main points? Does it have a strong ending that leaves the reader satisfied? Do you have suggestions for improving the conclusion?
Literature of Literature & Synthesis of Literature
Gathering of Literature PART A 1. Compile, read, and take notes on at least fifteen (15) key articles and books, dissertations or monographs from the last 10-15 years concerning a research topic of your choice. Your notes may take the form of a detailed spreadsheet with standard information for each source (e.g., reference, participants, methods, research questions, key findings, your own commentary) or narrative summaries with equivalent information. 2. Document your process for selecting those literature sources, including databases used, search terms, and number of total applicable hits. As a part of the process, you will also keep a running reference list of relevant sources referenced in other sources or found through your search process that you intend to read at a later point. This auxiliary list should be in APA format and contain no fewer than 25 additional sources. PART B Synthesis of Literature Paper Using the literature sources you identified in #2, organize them into subtopics. For each subtopic write a synthesis of the main points related to what you read that includes an introduction, main points, and conclusion in which you discuss aspects of the topic that might be of interest to your future research endeavors. This is not a series of article summaries. It is, rather, a description of themes in the literature, using specific sources as supporting evidence. Kindly consider my research interest: My primary research interest is in getting a very good understanding of current state of the art approaches to successfully teaching mathematics and exploring how these approaches can be successfully implemented in developing countries such as Ghana. I am particularly interested in doing a global, cross-national comparison of alternative approaches to effectively teaching mathematics.
Personal Narrative
Write a one-page response to the text. In your response be thinking about how Eighner creates a personal narrative. What do you think about the content? About his story? About his life? Is the way he tells the story effectively? What might you change? Think about tone and voice. How does the tone affect how you read this essay? What kind of voice does Eighner use? Does it fit with what he’s trying to do with the essay? Don’t feel you have to answer all these questions. And don’t limit your response to these ideas. I just listed some possible questions to get you started. Go where your mind takes you with this response. This is a double-spaced one-page response to a piece of writing, attached. It’s a short story, shouldn’t take too much time at all. Must pass copywriting and plagiarism checker.
The Hour of the Furnaces
watch the clip from Solanas and Getino’s The Hour of the Furnaces below. Using your FH textbook, the “Towards a Third Cinema” manifesto, and our lecture video on the film and manifesto, closely analyze the clip and write an argument about the meaning and effect this clip has on its viewer. The clip is part of the film chapter “Ideological War” in The Hour of the Furnaces, so feel encouraged to see where it is located in relationship to the other chapters in the film (its towards the end). In your answer, make sure to write about specific examples in the clip, that you vividly describe, to make your argument about the meaning and effect the clip has on its viewers–and, perhaps, the intentions of the filmmakers, especially since we have their manifesto. 2. This week you have seen multiple examples of political filmmaking: in Third Cinema (Battle of Algiers, The Hour of the Furnaces, One Way or Another, Xala), in Political Modernist film (Tout Va Bien), and in New German Cinema (The Marriage of Maria Braun) . Within these political film movements, you have witnessed different approaches and styles of filmmaking, everything from mainstream political narrative film, to experimental documentary, to fiction films that use documentary techniques, to films that are not clearly fictional or documentary, but more of a hybrid between the two. For this question, please make an argument for what styles, approaches, principles, techniques, etc. you believe are the most effective for achieving the aims of political filmmaking. It will be important to address the specific political contexts and aims of the films and film movements you choose as examples in your answer. However, you can also think creatively. What kinds of techniques, styles, principles would you borrow to make your own political film? Though this question asks you to think creatively, it is just as important to demonstrate your knowledge from this week’s course materials and to use (at least) two specific film examples in your answer. 3. Choose one film from this week and relate it to last week’s film The Spook Who Sat by the Door (Ivan Dixon, 1972). Your answer can compare the two films, contrast the two film, or focus on a particular relationship they share. The connection between the two films will be up to you. Remember, the strongest answers are those that highlight your knowledge of the course materials and pull from multiple places (lecture, readings, screenings, videos) to construct your answer. Strong answers also provide specific examples to back up your claims. PLEASE NOTE: Written clearly, proofread, organized in a clear and effective way (no more than 300 words per question) Addresses the questions directly and completely (especially, if there are multiple parts to the question) Demonstrates (even highlights) knowledge of the course materials, especially by constructing answers with examples that connect readings, lectures, and films Integrates quotations from textbook, readings, lecture videos, or films (needs to be cited correctly, MLA style (Links to an external site.) , and appropriatelynot too much quotation, addressed in your own words after citing) Demonstrates deep analytical and critical thinking (through a cultural studies lens) Attentive to the political and historical context of the period, film, filmmaker, movement, etc. being written about When appropriate, develops a strong argument that is proven through well-chosen evidence that is vividly described in your answer
