The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s National Girls Initiative developed a policy and practices to promote positive outcomes for girls at risk of entering or in the juvenile justice system. Most inmates return to the community at some point. It is in the best interest of the community that the ex-offender be able to re-establish himself and be a contributing member of society, however; how successful their reentry is and how long it lasts depends on a variety of factors.
