Assignment 2: Database Design When you design a system, how its data is stored, optimized, and accessed are among your primary concerns. If your system cannot work efficiently with well-structured data, then your design would not be of much use to your organization. For this Assignment, imagine that you are a systems analyst for a bookstore. You are designing a system to sell books, CDs, and DVDs online. Using what you have learned about data management layer design, address the following in a 2- to 3-page paper: Which object-persistence format is best for this system? How do the problem-domain classes map to the selected format? What techniques would best optimize the design’s processing efficiency? What do you need to consider when you design the data access and manipulation (DAM) classes for the system? Create one DAM class as an example. Explain each of your recommendations and justify the design choices. Cite your sources according to APA guidelines.

Assignment 1: Data Modeling In your earlier analysis efforts, specifically in structural modeling, you examined the organization of data within a system. The approach that you used in analyzing that data structure was an object-oriented approach. In this Assignment you use a structured approach to model the data flow processes as you develop the data aspect of your design. Consider this scenario: Quality Tools is a company that sells a line of high-quality tools through an online store. When customers place orders on the company’s website, the system checks to see if the items are in stock, issues a status message to the customer, and generates a shipping order to the warehouse, which fills the order. The system automatically bills the customer when the order ships. The system also produces various reports. For this Assignment, perform the following: Draw a context diagram for the order system. Draw a Level 0 DFD for the order system. Justify the choices you made in your context diagram and DFD. Briefly compare the structured approach you use here with the object-oriented approach outlined in your reading. Cite your sources according to APA guidelines.

For the first week, you are expected to research and author an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). As you write policies you may find it helpful to make up a fictitious company.  This can provide context for your documents.  For this assignment, do some research on Acceptable Use Policies.  Write a policy for your organization.   You should consider each policy as a component of an overall Policy Manual.  Each document would represent a section of the policy manual.  So while they build on each other, consider each a stand-alone document that we would combine into a manual at the end of the course.  I would prefer that you submit each of the policies separately as you proceed however, in the coming weeks, you will be writing additional policies, all of which you will submit together as one document as your final project.  Therefore, you may choose to append each policy to the document that you create in Module 1.  If you go this route be sure to create a Policy Manual title page and create a new section for each assigned policy and update the table of contents.   Do not wait until the last minute on these assignments; your grade will suffer if you do. I would expect your policy documents to be 2-4 pages (not counting a title page).   AUP Sources: Appendix C of your textbook (see below), Google, public domain AUPs (**do not turn in a copy of appendix C, show me you performed research.) Make this policy your own. Throughout the course, you have been learning about different areas of research in databases and business intelligence. Your task for this week is to recreate an experiment conducted in a in databases and business intelligence recent research paper. Select a study to recreate which has been published in the last two years. Be sure to select a study that is repeatable using a provided dataset. Once you have selected an interesting research paper, address the following: Describe the issue addressed. Indicate why is it important and if this is an agreed-upon concern. Describe what was accomplished by the study and what was not achieved. Describe the methodology utilized in conducting the study. Determine if it was appropriate and justify your response. Robots and AIs when combined, they have major contributions in promoting organizations’ competitiveness. These technologies will have a major impact on the future of organizational performance and productivities. Robots and AI can be implemented separately or as a one product and in both cases their influence on organization performance will be evident. In other words, these technologies can be implemented as a one combined solution or they can be implemented separately. Write a three-section paper, plus an introduction, conclusion, and reference section, on using various frameworks for managing data analytic projects given a particular point of view. Each section will address the needs and recommendations for a particular viewpoint. The points of view are from that of 1) data analytics professionals (i.e. those doing the work), 2) business managers (who may be ignorant of how to do data analytics), and 3) customers (whose needs can be unique). Express the business and project needs of each and how different data analytic project frameworks and/or processes work to fulfill each need.
