[SOLVED] The Future of U.S. Foreign Policy in the Middle East

Part 1: Due July 22, 2020 12pm EST Submit an annotated bibliography for your strategy paper here. Each annotation should do two things: summarize the argument in the source you have chosen and explain how this source will be relevant to your project. The length of the annotation depends entirely on how long it takes you to say these two things; a two-sentence annotation that accomplishes both tasks is fine, and a longer annotation is also acceptable. You should have a minimum of 5 annotated sources, of which at least 2 must be from scholarly books or journals. Part 2: Due August 3, 2020 12pm EST In this paper, you will construct a regional strategy for the U.S. in the Middle East. This strategy should do each of the following: -outline three or four challenges the U.S. faces currently or will face in the future. -Present at least two strategic options for the U.S. moving forward, including the strengths and weaknesses of each strategic option. -select the option that you believe best fits with U.S. values, interests and capabilities in the region.

[ORDER SOLUTION] Faith Integration into U.S. Foreign Policy

Choose a U.S. alliance with a Muslim-majority state in the Middle East, and analyze it from a Christian faith-based perspective. Your analysis should examine each of the following: —What is the underlying reason for the U.S. alliance? —What, if any, concerns does the allied country raise in terms of human rights, particularly religious freedom and the treatment of religious minorities? (Note: the U.S. government produces international religious freedom reports on every country in the world, as well as broader reports on human rights. Other human rights NGOs such as Freedom House produce similar reports). —From a Christian perspective, how should we think about the prudential concerns for the U.S. alliance versus the concerns Christians naturally have for human rights and the treatment of fellow co-religionists? How, if at all, does the relationship between the state you chose and other U.S. allies in the region factor into this calculation? —What, if any, recommendations would you make to change the relationship and better balance the imperatives discussed above, in accordance with Christian worldview principles? Possible countries include: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Morocco, Tunisia or Turkey.

Papers will be graded on content, logic, organization, analysis, and conclusion.

Content consists of theoretical application and factual knowledge.

Logic consists of the reasoning of the paper – are the content items arranged in some understandable order, does one bit of information follow from another, are the items related in some consistent fashion that leads to a justifiable conclusion.

Organization – a subset of logic. Are items presented in such a way that they form a coherent and orderly argument. For instance, you may choose a chronological organization (by date).

Analysis – Merely reporting information back from the source material is insufficient. the information must be analyzed – usually using a theoretical perspective, to be able to draw out the meaning – why is it that way or why is that important.

Conclusion – if the other components are there, a conclusion is the easiest part of the paper. The conclusion must follow from the data and its analysis. Again, some explanation of the material to present a coherent argument and support a reasoned conclusion.

Papers must be sociological in nature that is they must use the information and theory to draw conclusions about society. Historical and psychological aspects of human behavior may be adjunct to the matter, but the analysis must be sociological.
