Personal Narrative   The purpose of this assignment is to evaluate the factors that influence ethical decision-making, and to explain why ethical decision-making in health care is important. Health care professionals are faced with a wide range of contemporary ethical dilemmas. Examination of how one can deliver ethical, professional care, regardless of personal beliefs and values, can ensure professional ethics, standards, and policies are upheld. Review the “Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work,” located in the Topic Materials. Consider the tenets of the Christian worldview and think about how your personal values and beliefs relate. Consider situations where the standards and policies for ethical care might conflict with your personal values and beliefs. In a 750- to 1,000-word personal narrative, describe how you can apply the tenets of the Christian worldview perspective to make ethical health care decisions, regardless of your personal values and beliefs, by using real world examples and addressing the following: Explain an event or experience that caused you to examine the values, norms, and socially constructed rules of conduct that influence morality. Explain the impact that differing cultures, traditions, and personal experiences have had in shaping your worldview. Include discussion of how your worldview encompasses the tenets of the Christian worldview perspective related to human value, dignity, and ethical decision-making as a health care professional. Describe how you distinguish between moral conflict and ethical dilemmas, and include specific examples. Discuss the value of integrity, accountability, and ethical behavior in health care, and explain how these influence your view, ideas, and choices. For those of you who believe in cross-cultural evangelism, describe an evangelistic method or technique that you believe to be useful when reaching out to persons from a culture different than your own. Write a 2 page reflection paper  on a Professional Code of Ethics here.  Find a resource on the internet from either your professional organization or a general healthcare site that provides a Professional Code of Ethics. The question is “What does ethics and integrity mean to me and law enforcement?” I am from the Hispanic culture if you can relate that to anything.

1.Aristotle was a Greek philosopher who believed in the power of persuasion. He proclaimed the speaker should be ethical and possess good character. In essence, he stressed that if a person lacked credibility, their message would be ineffective.    Discuss your understanding of “ethos” and share an example of a situation when you witnessed it being used effectively to “persuade” others (e.g., employer, politician, family member, etc.). You can also share an example from film or television. Next, specify the persuasive elements that made this person’s “ethos” impacting. Lastly, share an example of someone who lacked “ethos” and explain why.  2.Unethical situations occur daily, and they are often “too close for comfort.”     Aristotle believed appeals to one’s emotions in persuasion could sway audiences, either positively or negatively. Discuss your understanding of “pathos” and apply it to a 21st century scenario where you witnessed it being abused. Specify persuasive elements that were used to sway the audience (e.g., stakeholders in a firm, etc.). Next, describe a situation where “pathos” was used ethically in a business setting.  Ethos = Credibility – when someone gets credit for something they did, whether its negative or positive   Pathos = Appeals to emotion in persuasion – controlling someone’s decision by using your emotions.
