[ORDER SOLUTION] Virtue Ethics
Discussion 2: The purpose of this discussion forum is for you to: Use basic philosophical vocabulary, major arguments, and positions in philosophical ethics (Objective 2.2), and Present arguments for ethical positions (Objective 4.2). For this discussion forum, I have several questions about virtue ethics. First, I’m wondering if you think virtue is the right way to think about ethics. It seems like virtue requires moral excellence. But is excellence what is really necessary or should we just strive not to be actively harmful? Additionally, given the different circumstances and abilities that people have, should we expect everyone to live up to the same standards of moral excellence? In a somewhat related sense, I wonder if virtue ethics can be applied universally. What counts as morally excellent characteristics in one culture is probably different than other cultures. By contrast, it seems like ethics ought to apply across cultures. Finally, what do you make of the critique made by “situationism,” namely, that moral character matters much less for determining actions than specific features of the situation. If people are primed with policies, culture, or other influences, will they abandon what their “moral character” would otherwise do? What do you think of virtue ethics and the idea of moral character as the way to explain ethical actions and ethical evaluation? Discussion 4: Deontology and Consequentialism The goal is for you to compare to prominent modern ethical theories in terms of their key claims and characteristics. You will discuss similarities, differences, strengths, and weaknesses. And then you will apply these different ethical positions to contemporary moral problems and various aspects of life. Task: You will write a short narrative that responds to the following prompts: Explain the core characteristics of deontology and consequentialism. Define these terms and give some examples of ethical theories studied in this course that demonstrate each of these two groups of moral theory. Compare and contrast these two types of ethical theory. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of each each type of moral theory. Apply these moral theories to a concrete example in contemporary ethics or personal life. The narrative should be no longer than 500 words. It should be largely factual and objective. You should not identify your favorite moral theory. Instead, you should objectively assess the two moral theories by comparing, contrasting, and applying those moral theories to situations. Evaluation criteria: Use philosophical terminology correctly and discuss these types of moral theory in a way that demonstrates knowledge of these theories. Compare and contrast the relative characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of each moral theory. The best submissions will demonstrate understanding of the key characteristics of these theories with a critical eye to their strengths and weaknesses. Apply the moral theories to relevant contemporary examples. The best submissions will pick examples that highlight the similarities and differences between the moral theories.

[ORDER SOLUTION] Ethical Theories
The final paper would be about 5-7 pages. The outline would be about ~300 words. It does not have to be written as a prose. It can be written as bullet points, but provide as much detail as it may allow. More importantly, the outline will state the problem/topic you’re trying to discuss, your thesis statement or your argument, how you’re going to argue for your thesis or which ethical theory you will apply, how someone might object to your proposal, and other things you’d think important for your paper, bibliography, etc. The paper is an application of the ethical theories discussed in class, hence applied ethics. It will be on a topic of your choice. You may use any ethical theory you’d like, but it might be easier to use utilitarianism or Kantianism (or virtue ethics) as that would be easier. You may also use any of the topics from the first handout, under the heading “Applied Ethics”. Some of the topics may range from “is it moral to eat animals”, “is abortion permissible”, or “during a pandemic, should we take the resources originally allocated to older people to save the young”, etc. Is abortion permissible: https://bconline.broward.edu/d2l/le/content/408843/topics/files/download/11773784/DirectFileTopicDownload

[ORDER SOLUTION] Ethical Violations
Please respond to each prompt in at least 100 words. These are thought responses and will require no references, just your thoughts on the prompts.Prompt 1:Discrimination is an ethical violation that I have witness, not personally, but it happened to three of my previous co-workers that were in leadership. The executive director decided to fire three black administrators. He did not turn to the agencys human resources or the attorney general for advice, instead he consulted withhis wife who is a lawyer to assist him with what to say during the firing meeting. The three administrators claimed the ED, who is white, fired them because they were black. All of this eventually led to a lawsuit for wrongful termination anddiscrimination, which they won. It was an ethical violation because the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforces federal laws prohibiting discriminationagainst a job applicant or an employee during work situations including: hiring, firing, promotions, training, wages and benefits. Learning from this situation, I first would learn the EEOC laws to ensure this mistake is not repeated, because it ultimately caused the agency to lose A LOT of money 1 million dollars to be exact! Next, I would educate myself and others in the agency about the company’s workplace policies. And finally, attend training on EEO and be pro-active.Prompt 2:Something that I believe is a Ethical Violation is something that I experienced a lot as a manager at Panera Bread. There are a lot of things I could match to a Ethical Violation but one that I really hated from other managers involved sickness. It is sad to say that a lot of managers did not take sickness serious. There are strict roles on it and just as a person you know it sucks to work when you are sick. I was one of the only managers that no matter what if someone showed proof or seemed unwell I immediately sent them home no matter what. When I was a associate (before I was promoted to management) there were several times that I got the flu or something else serious that I was not able to go home, the manager didnt believe me. There was actually a time that I got a serious infection that the doctor recommended I stay out of work for a minimum of 7 days as a MANAGER that I worked two full 9 hour shifts feeling like trash. Even my boss noticed that other managers werent believing me and he had to step in and tell the manager on duty that I am sick and need to go home. When I went home I happen to be off the next day and went to the doctor and she said I should not have been working I have a serious infection. To me thats just ridiculous. I have never made someone work while they were sick and making someone work in food while they are sick is bad for the customers. I believe that its unethical for a manager to do that to the associate and to the customers.
