Select an organization that has dealt with significant internal or external ethical issues recently. Examples are listed below. This will be the foundation of your case study. To complete your case study, you will need to conduct research on your selected organization and consider the ethical issues you find to be involved with it. You will also need to locate the organization’s own code of ethics, if it has one. Most publish their codes online. There are examples of codes of ethics in our modules this week. If your organization doesn’t have an explicit code of ethics, research general codes of ethics for your organization’s type (business, legal, journalistic, or medical, for example). Be prepared not only to describe your organization’s ethical issues and to furnish specific evidence of them but also to note whether and how these ethical issues have violated the organization’s own code. You’re going to use the ethics concepts from this course, coupled with your own system of ethics, to analyze these ethical issues by following the outline provided. Make your own personal system of ethics explicit in order to prepare your reader for your analysis of your selected case (organization and ethical issues). You don’t need to write a manifesto; rather, you should lay out your system as simply as you can, with support from our course concepts (lessons and readings) where it’s useful. For example, you could say that you believe in moderation, but it’s much more interesting to note that like Aristotle, you see virtue in it (good place for a citation!). Find your own balance of the personal and the academic. This is a chance for you to show off who you are and what you’ve learned here. Use your own personal system of ethics to analyze your selected case. Provide your own analysis based on your own personal system of ethics of how the organization and its issues are problematic and how a solution, if there is one, might be reached. Note: This is an APA paper that uses and cites course material (textbook and lessons) and includes at least three additional high-quality sources as support. For these additional three sources, you might choose further work by philosophers or conflict resolution providers we’ve covered, work by philosophers or thinkers from outside this course, work by scholars who are thinking about the same issues you are, or commentary from media experts who are looking at the organization and its issues in the press. Whatever you do, do not rely on Google; use the library to find high-quality sources and make sure you understand who and what they are so that you’re aware of things like authority and bias. The paper will include the following sections. Some sections will be one paragraph; others may be more than one. Introduction/thesis: Provide a strong introductory paragraph with a guiding sentence that lets your reader know what your paper will cover and why. Facts: Describe the organization, any important events, and the related ethical issues. What has happened, and what is happening now? Has the organization violated its own professional code of ethics? How can you tell? Personal Ethical Philosophy: You’re taking a break from the organization and its ethical issues. Here, you’ll explain your own personal system of ethics, both what it was before you took this class and how it has developed via our course concepts and your own research. Analysis: Use your own personal system of ethics to analyze the organization and its ethical issues. Make sure always to relate your statements about the organization and its ethical issues back to your own standards of behavior as outlined in number 3, above. Resolution and/or Conclusion: If you see a possible resolution of this organization’s ethical issues, present it clearly. Again, relate it back to your own standards of behavior as outlined in number 3, above. If there is no resolution that you can see, that’s perfectly fine. You can use a more standard conclusion that restates and adds value. Organizations With Recent Ethical Issues (examples, and you may find your own) United Airlines (dragged a bloodied passenger off of a flight) 21st Century Fox and Bill O’Reilly (sexual assault/cover-ups) Facebook (data harvesting and its impact on the 2016 U.S. election) Uber (alleged use of a software dubbed Greyball to avoid regulators in geographic regions where it was operating illegally) The Weinstein Company (multiple sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein/cover-ups) Equifax (data breaches) Samsung (bribery charges) Kobe Steel/Mitsubishi Materials (Japan and corporate governance) Wells Fargo (fake accounts) Apple (slowed-down phones as a sales tool) Ohio State University (abuse of students by coaches and staff) Mylan (EpiPen price gouging) Samsung (battery recall) Criteria Points Purpose This paper must begin with a solid introduction, including a one-sentence thesis that compels the reader to keep reading by connecting the organization and issues, personal ethical philosophy, analysis, and resolution and conclusion. 50 Support and Development Analysis shows depth of critical thought. Research and course materials are leveraged in support of ideas about organization and issues and writer’s own personal system of ethics. Theoretical underpinnings are evident throughout. All research is clearly referenced and cited. 50 Ethical Analysis Writer’s system of ethics is clear and cohesive and includes not just general statements but specific definitions and support (cited) from thinkers we’ve covered in our course. 50 Grammar, Mechanics, and Style Grammar refers to correct standard American usage; for example, subject and verb agreement and correct parts of speech. Mechanics refers to correct idiomatic usage; for example, capitalized proper nouns, word choice, and word order. Style refers to dynamic writing that avoids passive constructions and maintains the reader’s interest via generous use of detail. 50 Total A quality paper will meet or exceed the above requirements. 200

Identify and describe a myth that has been created or perpetuated by television. You must clearly explain the myth and its origin. You must also describe all of the people involved in the myth, including the producers, actors, and viewers. Your example and its description must be supported by sourced evidence. For the analysis part of the paper you must explain why you think viewers believe the false info the myth is based on. Additionally, you must provide at least one suggestion for combatting myths portrayed on television. The analysis can come from your understanding of the example, but you are encouraged to use sources to support your analysis. You will submit a 4-5-page written report where you describe the example you identified and provide the analysis required. All papers should be written in APA format and you must cite at least four outside sources to support your description of the example. If you use the textbook as a source, you must have a minimum of five sources. All papers must include a clear and well-defined structure including an introduction, body, and conclusion. The introduction must clearly set up the paper and include a thesis statement. The intro should also be creatively written so it makes the reader want to continue reading. The body must be thorough, detailed, and supported by sources. The conclusion is just as important as the introduction. The conclusion should provide a clear summary of the paper and give the reader closure

Is Ethics of Care is a teleological ethical system or a deontological ethical system?In 500 words or more (no less), argue whether the Ethics of Care is a teleological ethical system or a deontological ethical system, support your claim. You may use examples, but you will still need to include a full scholarly definition of each, with commentary. You may use any scholarly source other than a dictionary, to include online video lectures. You may use Wikipedia as a starting point, but be aware that Wikipedia is not a scholarly source and therefore can never be quoted in your paper. OverviewInstead of taking an exam for our midterm, we will be working on a research-based argumentative essay, which will be due in its final form at the end of the semester. For the midterm component of this project, you will be gathering and organizing your research and working out your main arguments and your counter-arguments. The actual drafting of this essay will come later.TopicsFor your topic, you must choose either a specific ethical dilemma (like the cases of Dax Cowert or Teri Schiavo) or a broader ethical issue, such as environmental ethics, euthanasia, abortion rights, etc. You are free to choose your own topic, but my advice is that you should choose something small and limited in scope, and ideally something that has been written about by many well-educated and knowledgeable people. Don’t take on all of environmental ethics, for example, it’s too big, and don’t choose a dilemma that’s only relevant to your own life, that’s too small. If in doubt, please discuss this with me. There is no official length requirement, only a quality requirement. Generally speaking, more detail is better and therefore longer is better–not because length is what you want, but because a fully-detailed and well-planned essay will require a longer, rather than a shorter, outline.The overall length of the final essay can vary, and again there’s no requirement for length. However, after having read over 10,000 of these through the years, I can tell with confidence that the best ones will require 6-10 pages. I don’t think more pages will help, and I’m certain fewer pages will not allow for enough detail to adequately cover your topic.

Post a link to the article if appropriate.For example, if you picked virtue ethics, you would need to use the principles of that theory to analyze a moral issue such as the actions of Edward Snowden virtuous or traitorous. In the past two modules, you created a simple visual of your default mode of ethical reasoning and then began adding to it, in order to represent what it means to you to be an ethical professional using such concepts as relationship, well-being, and trust. In this activity, you will temporarily put that aside in order to visualize a workable method of ethical decision-making. (You’ll consolidate them later.) You’ll personalize the method outlined in Meyers Chapter 2, 2.6 and 2.7. When you are done, you will have the foundation of your personal ethical decision-making toolkit.Task:Design your SmartArt image based on what you learned this week. You explored how ethical decision-making can be understood as a process of reasoning and used it to test and understand the experience of a fictional character. Now, visualize your own process and highlight the tools that you believe will be the most useful to you. As you design your image, ask yourself, when the decision is difficult and you don’t know what to do, what steps do you want to take? What factors will you consider? How will you determine the extent to which relevant factors are involved? How will you incorporate, in advance, the outcomes of your decision? The visual map you create here should be the tool that you want to have on hand when you have to make the tough decisions.Use your essay to help you do this. How did your character come to their decision? Would you do it the same way? If so, create a visual model of that. Would you have made a different decision? If so, which factors, principles, and values would you use, and how would you justify your decision? Remember, this is not an exercise in emotion or belief. Those are not insignificant, and neither is conscience, but your faculty of reason must, in the end, be the arbiter of all of these inputs. Map your desired process in SmartArt (or a comparable tool), and as you create, think about your future self and your future clients.
