Have you had any preconceptions about K-beauty so far? For what reason does it arise? Which medium did you usually encounter information about K-beauty, and was it a positive or a negative effect? As you learn in the lecture, K-beauty has more complex factors than simply being a newly emerging presence in the global beauty industry. Discuss what was the most impressive feature for you in today’s lecture.DevinKorea is known as the plastic surgery capital of the world, I used to have preconceptions that people in Korea had major facial surgeries. Later I found out most plastic surgeries were very minor, for example, one of the most common ones double eyelid surgery. Much of the plastic surgery procedures are fast and painless, with a very competitive market in Korea it makes sense for people to travel there for these procedures as it can save a lot of money. When I thought of plastic surgery from a western perspective before I thought of more drastic changes that were actually minor surgeries, like reforming noses and even getting liposuction. After learning about K-beauty more on youtube, I learned it was more focused on taking care of your skin and protecting it from the sun. I learned it was more about maintaining what you already have and less about creating something new. K-beauty is more of a natural look that is lighter, compared to western look at is more outgoing with a heavier application of makeup generally. I was actually impressed to see how popular wearing different colored contact lenses were in Korea, it opens a whole new avenue of style that I hadn’t thought about before.peer commentMOMOBefore today’s lecture, my preconceptions about Korean beauty were that it was highly regarded. I already knew that Korea was the plastic surgery capital of the world, along with how much emphasis is placed on skincare. I enjoy wearing makeup and trying to fix my skin, so I mostly got my K-beauty info from social media. Specific accounts have been made on various social media sites to give information about skincare, makeup, or a combination of both. Most of the information that I encountered that way was positive. In today’s lecture, the rate at which the skincare industry is growing is impressive to learn about. While I was in high school, heavy or full coverage foundation was popular along with those western makeup styles show in the Tina Yong video. Nowadays, people in their 20s are putting more of an emphasis on skincare as they understand they’re starting to age. In my opinion, this shift is a good one because it allows for people to feel more confidant in their own skin. Makeup enhances people’s features, rather than covering them up.peer review

Specialized Language
This assignment will help you identify peer-reviewed literature that will inform and situate your final project. You are required to create a reference list, using a standard bibliographic style (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago), of five peer-reviewed academic articles related to your topic, then read and annotate those articles for this bibliography.****IMPORTANT**** Turnitin Plagiarism Review is turned on for this assignment. DO NOT copy and paste from your articles into this bibliography!!! If you do, your assignment will be flagged for plagiarism. One conditional exception – you MAY include the abstract (indicating it as the author’s work) as an ADDITIONAL field for your own records, but the abstract does NOT take the place of any required field and WILL be flagged for Dr. CoCo’s review. Basically, I’ll know if you don’t do your own work.Purpose:· Use library resources or Google Scholar (scholar.google.com) to identify peer-reviewed journal articles on a topic you want to study· Practice reading and summarizing published research articles· Apply a consistent and formal bibliographic style to your writingProcess:1. Conduct a literature search that is relevant to your chosen topic using the database resources from the library.2. Identify 5 relevant peer-review journal articles (published research articles) and create a reference list (like the ones you would see at the end of a research article) using a standard bibliographic style such as APA, MLA, or Chicago. (You will likely read 25+ abstracts to find the articles you want.) Please identify the style you are using at the top of your bibliography.Note: Your curiosity may be informed by a book or online report or other type of resource, but for purposes of this assignment, you should focus ONLY on peer-review journal articles from academic journals.Product: Create an annotated bibliography of those five articles. An annotated bibliography provides full citation information for the article, as well as specific information for each source. Each article annotation should consist of ALL the following sections following the perfect citation.(a) Research question(s) – The precise research questions the author(s) asked, or a description of the objectives or purpose of the study(b) Data Source – A description of the data from which the authors conclusions were based (e.g., was it a literature review, survey questionnaire, experiment, qualitative case study, big data set, or something else? What kind of sample was used? How were variables measured? Make sure you use the terminology correctly.) This section is NOT for the data they produced. That will be in the Findings section.(c) Conceptualization/Specialized Language – Did the authors develop a new term? Did they use specialized language? How did they conceptualize and operationalize (measure) their main considerations? (Your articles may or may not do this, but BE SURE you understand whether they do or not. If they don’t, write “N/A” in this section. *Hint* – too many N/As make me suspicious that you did not understand or utilize this section.) You may also include methods here if they are helpful.(d) Findings – A short summary of what the author(s) concluded.Notes – There should be AT LEAST 2-3 sentences about how the article informs your thinking about your final project. This section will remind you about how or why this reference is particularly relevant. How does it inform your final project? What insight did it give you? In ADDITION to your own notes, you may include the author’s abstract if you’d like to but BE SURE to put quotation marks around it and indicate that it is the abstract. Otherwise, it will look like plagiarism.
