Use the book Siddhartha to analyze the central image of the river in Siddhartha. Lead with a clear thesis statement. Use topic sentences at the top of each paragraph and follow it with an example, it’s interpretation and then a transition to the next paragraph. Let each following sentence add evidence from the text to support your reading.

Pick one poem by a Harlem Renaissance poet. It can be one of the poems I’ve assigned or any poem by a Harlem Renaissance poet in our text, The Portable Harlem Renaissance Reader. In a 6-8 paragraph essay, analyze and interpret the poem with attention given to any poetic elements that you wish to consider (imagery, figurative language, symbolism, theme, etc.).   Please proofread your essay with care for spelling errors, typos, lapses in syntax/standard grammar and mechanics.  I picked “Ruby Brown “by Langston Hughes and “The Harlem Dancer” by Claude Mckay. so from those two you choose the easiest one for you.

Overview For this assignment, you will explore in a personal way the lives of those who have migrated elsewhere. You will seek out and interview a minimum of four people with various living abroad experiences. Try to have a diverse group if possible–different nationalities, some who have come to Egypt, some who have left, a family, a single, a male, a female, etc., for example. The more diverse the group is the better your paper will be. Try to include different ages, refugees, migrants, and travelers of different backgrounds. You will create a list of interview questions (a minimum of 6 well-written ones), and then interview these people with the goal of trying to understand in a realistic manner the causes and effects of their moving in their life. I want you to try to imagine what their lives are like and imagine having been through their experiences. A major part of this assignment is the research aspect of it. Your research thought is not in the library or on the internet, your research is going out and finding people whom you can interview. This will take time and effort. But this time and effort is a major and significant part of this paper. If you don’t do the research well, you won’t have a good paper. A successful paper is a good research + good reflection. The goal is for you to learn the human realities behind their stories, and then to reflect on those stories. To think about what you learn from them as a human, and a person growing up in an increasingly interconnected world. You need to organize these thoughts and ideas that you are reflecting on and put them into a well written reflective paper. If it isn’t obvious from all that is written so far, please note that a reflective paper is much more than just a summary of the interviews. Paper Details and Guidelines You will write a minimum of a four-page reflection paper talking about what you learned from their stories as well as pointing out any interesting conclusions or patterns from their stories (title page and appendices do not count as part of page count) You should use some limited quoting from the people you interviewed. In an appendix, give a one-paragraph biography for each person that you interviewed. In a second appendix, include the list of interview questions that you used. You do not need to include an abstract for this paper. This paper is worth 20% of your total course grade. The paper should be written in proper APA format. The Cycle of Violence A Case Study of Troy Maxson in Fences Focus and Purpose The focus of this case study is the character of Troy Maxson in the play Fences written by August Wilson.  The purpose of this study is to determine if Maxson maintains the Cycle of Violence or breaks it.  Definition Provide a thorough definition of the Cycle of Violence Theory as stated in the article by Abigail Fagan and cite (Fagan 279). You should also include additional information about the Cycle of Violence theory. Cite all source. Profile Identify Troy’s values, dreams/goals, fears.  Identify problems in Troy’s current relationships.  Give each relationship a separate paragraph and cite page numbers for your evidence (Wilson 1823). You covered a good bit of this in your Fences Response Page.  Cite the play for all quotes and evidence.  Background In two paragraphs, list important information about Troy’s childhood (before he left home) and his young adulthood (after he left home).   Provide citations for this information (Wilson 1823).  You covered this in your response page. Risk Factors                   Identify risk factors for the Cycle of Violence as determined by the Fagan article. Identify the risk factors displayed by Troy Maxson.  Cite the play.  This section should be well developed as it is the purpose of the Case Study.   Conclusion and Discussion                   Answer the question posed in Focus and Purpose – does Troy maintain or break the Cycle of Violence.  Provide evidence for your conclusion and cite (Wilson 1823).  If you conclude that he does not break the cycle, list causes.  If he does break the cycle, discuss the extent to which he does. Works Cited List your sources alphabetically. You should use and cite  a total of four sources – the play and three additional sources from the databases.

This quotation or paraphrase from a secondary source must come after you analyze the quotation from the literary work. After you provide the quotation/citation from the secondary source, you must analyze that quotation and its significance. You may have to rewrite and rework some of your argument. Each body paragraph must contain a quotation from the text, which you should already have. You will analyze that quotation (should already be done). We did not talk about the “So what/who cares” aspect of the introduction, so omit it. Instead, make sure you have 4-6 sentences in your introduction with your thesis as the last sentence of your introduction. Whatever you put in the parenthetical citation must match the first word of that corresponding entry on the works cited page. The citation you see for the textbook actually refers to the old edition of our textbook, so you don’t want to copy that information, as it is outdated. Your word limit for your complete research paper is 1250-1750, excluding the works cited page. For the first two pages due Monday, you are expected to have two full pages of text complete, as well as your works cited page containing five sources. To recap, you are submitting a document that contains the first two pages of your research paper, and then the third page will consist of your works cited page

I want you to write everything that I would say in the presentation. First you will summarize the topic, then give examples and explain them.
