[ORDER SOLUTION] Literary Place

Final Exam Essay- choose one of the three novels and then choose one of the four characteristics from the handout “Literary Place” and discuss how the chosen characteristic is reflected in the novel. The Essay should be 3 to 3 ½ pages, typed, double-spaced, and titled. Novels to choose from: Super-Cannes by J.G Ballard, A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, A Small Place by Jamaica Kincaid. The Four Characteristics to choose from: there are four key characteristics to it no matter how geographically different the literary place might be. These characteristics are as follows: 1. It is contested in terms of race, gender, class, religion, sexuality, etc. Different mentalities / cultural entities struggle for a dominant or visible position within the place. 2. It is fluid because of historical forces. Even though it is static in terms of physical placement, it is dynamic in terms of actual meaning due to the passing of time. 3. It is interactional and relational. The different mentalities / cultural entities will use the space to either interact with one another or separate from one another. 4. It is generally defined by inequality and difference. Because of the three prior characteristics, it is almost impossible to see it as a place where all individuals are equal and deserve equal rights.

[ORDER SOLUTION]  analyzing a film and its source material

Objective: Create a position and defend that position through a combination of analysis of primary sources and the inclusion of scholarly, secondary sources. What does that mean? You need to develop an argument and support it by both analyzing a film and its source material as well as provide research to support your argument. Length: 10 pages Sources: One film and text pairing from class. (Could be like water for chocolate book and movie OR Romeo + juliet book and movie (directed by Baz Lurmann) Outside Sources: at minimum 6 scholarly sources as part of your paper. The Assignment: Argue whether you believe that the literary source material or its corresponding film is the superior piece of literature? What does superior mean? Anything you want: more engaging, more enjoyable, more thought-provoking, etc. Analyze one of our films to demonstrate the significant differences between its literary source material and its film counterpart. What does this mean? Do a deep dive in showing how the movie and the literary work that inspired it function in relationship to each other. What are the key differences and what impact does that have? What are the key similarities and why is it important that these be maintained? Does the film maintain narrative continuity or thematic continuity? Both? Neither? Why is that important and what impact does it have on its audience. Why does that make one superior (however you defined that) to the other? Quite simply: Why is the book better than the movie or why is the movie better than the book? Remember: You must have a works cited page accurately detailing in MLA format what sources you use. It is best to use a source that is a bit older as there is more writing on it, so if you use one of contemporary pieces, you might find it harder to find good sources. Online only sources like websites, Wikipedia, etc, are not academic sources and therefore do not count towards the minimum requirements. That said, literary reviews from established literary magazines are acceptable sources for this essay.

[ORDER SOLUTION] Daystar by Rita Dove

In an essay of five or more paragraphs, explore your own opinion on the imagery in “Daystar” by Rita Dove. Daystar She wanted a little room for thinking: but she saw diapers steaming on the line, a doll slumped behind the door. So she lugged a chair behind the garage to sit out the children’s naps. Sometimes there were things to watch — the pinched armor of a vanished cricket, a floating maple leaf. Other days she stared until she was assured when she closed her eyes she’d see only her own vivid blood. She had an hour, at best, before Liza appeared pouting from the top of the stairs. And just what was mother doing out back with the field mice? Why, building a palace. Later that night when Thomas rolled over and lurched into her, she would open her eyes and think of the place that was hers for an hour — where she was nothing, pure nothing, in the middle of the day.

[ORDER SOLUTION] Increasing Teenage Depression

The presented information on the causes and effects of increasing teenage depression in the United States calls for immediate action through public policy to alleviate this problem so that the country’s future can be prosperous. Therefore, as a reaction to the increasing rates of depression in teenagers, the federal and state government should take the following strategies to make mental illness services to be easily accessible through the following public policies. First, there is the necessity of formulating regulations that illegalize insurance firms from providing plans, which tend to put higher financial restrictions on services concerning mental health conditions than the physical ones (Curington 5). Such practice can reduce the costs of mental health services encountered by insured people and promote access to medical treatment, thereby improving the mental health results of this group of individuals. Public policies must be inclined towards prevention programs that promote the family environment. In this case, family-based programs are essential strategies to alleviate depression among such individuals. Parental psychopathology is linked with high dysfunction in a family context (Treat et al., 390). Consequently, there is a need for federal agencies to adopt greater coordination across the National Institute of Health alongside engaging other research resources. Such coordination is beneficial as there are higher possibilities that many disseminated programs will be realized to effectively address the prevalence of depression across the country. Since most of the teenagers are school-going children, the federal and state governments need to establish public policies for use in educational centers to target both behavioral and cognitive risk factors for this health condition. Essentially, as a school-based program, cognitive behavioral therapy will teach the target group the association between life events, the emotional impacts of their understanding, and their beliefs on those encounters 2. Underneath, re-write the paragraph in half the number of words without removing any of the ideas. 3. Briefly explain how you approached trimming the paragraph – wordy sentence patterns, repetition, redundancy?
