Create a Handout for ELL Parents

For this task, you will create a pamphlet suitable for distribution to parents, especially those with children with special needs such as English language learners and/or with mental or physical disabilities. In your pamphlet, present to the parent or caregiver recommendations for effective practices for teaching special populations to read and write in school and at home.  Since the parent or caregiver will most likely not be fluent readers and speakers of English, or may have limited formal schooling, be sure to include meaningful graphics and graphic organizers, and simple, but informative text.  To ensure that your parents will try to read and follow your recommendations, avoid using too much jargon, too much clutter with smaller font size; and be sure to use  a design that your colleagues will ask to use for their parents!  Length: 3-4 pages Your pamphlet should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic.  Your paper should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.  Review The Basic APA Style tutorial as needed.

Group Formation

Group Formation This learning activity is due by Day 7. Locate and read the article listed for this assignment titled “Groups as Systems.” Zajonc states, “Synergy can take either a physical or a mental form. The physical presence of others is often arousing, so more work is accomplished. Even ants work harder when there is more than one of them on the job” (Henman, n.d., p.2). In the mental sense, synergy forms when a type of collective intelligence and shared memory begin to develop as the group matures. Reflect on a group experience where you noticed this shift to synergy with your group. (Some ideas: at a human services agency where you work, a different occupation, serving on a committee, a group in college, etc.) Describe this experience as vividly as possible, with plenty of detail and analysis of as many group members (in regards to their contributions to attaining synergy) that you can recall. This assignment should consist of 350-500 words. You are not required to seek additional sources but cite and reference the required reading in your work if you have integrated any thought, idea, or quote from the material. Reference Henman, L. (n.d.). Groups as systems [PDF file]. Retrieved from http://www.henmanperformancegroup.com/articles/group-systems.pdf

Basic English Discussion

I was very young, I think I was no more than five years old at the time. I still lived up north with my parents and for whatever reason, we were taking a trip on a steam locomotive. Now I have been on tri-rails before, and subways, but never a steam train. It was huge! Lease to say, I also was very tiny at the time. I watched the steam come from the chimeny off the engine, heard the high pitch of the whistleblowing, and these things seemed pretty exciting at the moment. It was not until we started to board the train, that I looked and saw that the base and wheels that held up the train carts where seemingly a lot narrower than the cart itself. Not much thought into what I noticed until the train began to move and pick up speed. All I remember is being terrified the whole ride. Since the carts were much wider than the wheels they were on, it made the train sway side to side. I watched every talk and move around the train like nothing was to be worried about, while I sat as still as possible next to my mother praying to myself that this train would not tip over, I was almost positive it was going to. I do not remember much of anything else during this train ride or what happened after. The only thing that has been imprinted in my memory from that day is how scared I was to be riding the train and just waiting for us to tip over.             MAKE A REPLY OVER 100 WORDS For more information on Basic English Discussion read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_English
