Choose a student from your class. Using what we have learned in class, write an analysis of the student that contextualizes them as an individual while highlighting any particular behavioral concerns and possible meaning of those concerns. Be sure to consider the societal, institutional, classroom community specific understandings of why this particular behavior can be considered problematic and may need some instructional support, intervention or modification. Building from this analysis, create a plan for how you will work collaboratively with the student and with the classroom community to address the behavioral concern and facilitate stronger membership in the classroom for the individual. A strong piece will include theoretical foundations for your approach, a reflective analysis of your own positionality in relation to the individual student and the behavioral concern, specific methods drawn from coursework for gathering information for analysis of the student, specific methods drawn from coursework for supporting, intervening, or modifying the behavioral concern, a collaborative approach that considers all stakeholders.

Developmental Observation Project Guidelines for Projects: All projects must be typed unless otherwise noted by the instructor.  Correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation must be used.  Grammar will be considered when grading.  Projects should be neat and professionally presented.  Projects will be graded on completeness, thoroughness, and thoughtfulness. Developmental Observation Project: Objective:  To observe the development of young children birth through age 5. This project will consist of an extensive observation of 3 children: an infant, a toddler, and a preschooler.   Part I: For each of the 3 children, you will describe their development in the physical, cognitive, and social-emotional domains.  The textbooks should be used as a guide for specific aspects to observe.  For instance, when observing an infant, you might describe the physical characteristics of the child including height, weight, body control as well as small motor control.  You may also talk to the parents and ask them questions about development to include in your report.  You should have at least one page for each developmental domain.  The descriptions should be comprehensive and detailed.    Part II: Choose one theory of development discussed in the beginning of class.  For each child, write a page summary about each child’s development in terms of the theory.    For instance, according to Piaget, at what stage of development would the child be?  What led you to this conclusion?  What aspect about the child’s behaviors made this evident?  Provide examples. 

Journal Article Critique Assignment Instructions You will analyze and critique a peer reviewed journal article from a professional journal. The article must address the topic of discussion. You must select an article that is less than five years old. Your article critique must include the following: ·       A summary of the author’s position An analysis of the author’s key points and the extent to which it is backed up ·       Application of the article in the classroom ·       Implications to teaching   The assignments must reflect current APA formatting and should include a title page, and reference page. Your scavenger hunt will cover three main areas: reference sources, primary and secondary sources, and government information.
