CO1: Evaluate a specific issue in the field of Criminal Justice; CO2: Develop a topic/problem statement (including a proposed solution) based on an issue in Criminal Justice; CO3: Demonstrate ability to successfully cite university online library database sources pertaining to scholarly journals and peer-reviewed articles; CO4: Prepare an annotated bibliography based on research from the online library databases; CO5: Apply successfully various rules related to APA style writing and format, including citations and references; and CO6: Produce an empirical literature review final document. Research Paper/Term Project: Each student will be required to complete the term project, which is a 15-20 page (not counting the cover, abstract and reference page) research paper in APA format. In preparation for the paper, students will submit a thesis statement, an annotated bibliography and a rough draft.  Thesis Statement: Submit your proposed thesis for approval by no later than Sunday of week 1. Substance-abuse problems not only affect the user but also his or her family and relationships. Write a report that addresses the effects of substance abuse on the family and relationships of the user, covering the following issues. Discuss the impact that substance abuse can have on the dynamics and functioning of a family.
