There is a group of criminals currently committing acquisitive crime in your area usually in smaller teams of three or four individuals. Witnesses have provided written statements with descriptions of the offenders to various degrees of accuracy. The crime reports and witness statements are stored on the local police computer system. Discuss: 1.The criminals’ identities are unknown. How would you ascertain the potential size of the network? 2.One of the criminals has been identified as Billy Smith, date of birth 16th July 1985. How will you identify Billy Smith’s network and suggest what crimes they may have committed?

Students are required to submit a written assignment of 1300-1500 words (not including title page or reference page, double spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman font) about a current topic of interest in the field of Canadian criminal justice. This written assignment will take the form of an annotated bibliography and should be a collection of six academic and peer-reviewed articles about the student’s topic of interest within the Canadian criminal justice system. When completed, the annotated bibliography should provide a balanced account or synopsis of the current state of research on the subject selected.   Items in the annotated bibliography should be presented alphabetically, and each annotation should provide a brief description of the article or book selected. This year has seen community unrest across America that we have not seen on this scale in many years. The murder of George Floyd has made the importance of good Police and Community more important than ever before. If you could have the Police Commissioners of the 100 largest cites in the United States in a room paying attention to you, what would be the three things/items you would want them to focus on and implement in their departments to get our country on a better path in police/community relations. The grading rubric for your annotated bibliography appears below. Submit an annotated bibliography by no later than Sunday of week 3. Late submissions of this assignment will not be accepted. Find a case involving a juvenile arrest. Explain the process of this case and how the court proceeded to sentence the juvenile. Was it tried in juvenile court or adult court, why?  How could the case had been adjudicated differently? Do you agree or disagree with the outcome?  How could the case you chose been handled differently?   What is a status offense?
