The InformativeSpeech Course Objectives: Students will differentiate between and deliver effective informative and persuasive presentations, and: a. locate, incorporate, and document key reference materials and modern information resources b. construct a preparation outline exemplifying the organizational structural techniques of an effective speech c. demonstrate ability to analyze audiences d. identify and use appropriate presentation technologies and software, modern visual aids and graphical information in presentations e. present the speech in an extemporaneous* mode f. manage stage fright 2. 1. Each student will research, outline, practice and present a 3-5 minute informative speech. The speech should entail a report of information concerning a relevant topic. Prior to the speech, each student will hand in a full-sentence outline with bibliography, 2-3 visual aids, and audience analysis. When assigned, post your informative speech topic on the discussion board. 3. When assigned, submit an outline and video recording of your Informative Speech. Your outline must be saved as a PDF file and submitted on time in the assignment Drop Box in the Module. No late outlines will be accepted. The outline must be a full-sentence outline with the following: (There is a sample outline in the book.) Topic GeneralPurpose Specific Purpose Thesis Statement Introduction Main Points. Make sure you have 2-4 main points. Conclusion Bibliography. You must cite at least three authoritative sources on the outline. Visual Aid. You must state what the visual aid is on the outline.

After reading the material and viewing the videos on Communication climate and Conflict, then taking notes, consider the following questions.  Then write your response.  Since the first 3 minutes of a conflict are very important (Wood, 2020) is setting the proper climate important and in fact can you really prepare for a conflict? How, why and why not? Once a conflict arises, are there are steps you can take to ensure a communication climate that is conducive to a satisfying outcome for all parties involved? Technology is affecting language drastically. Technology is taking away the basics of language. Fundamentals in communication and using language to send a clear message are being misused on a daily basis, most times multiple times a day. Technology, such as cell phones and social media applications, are causing messages to be misconstrued and misread. With the use of emogis and acronyms being placed instead of using full words.  This type of language puts lack of emphasis on having to work on communicating fully. 

You will analyze media conglomeration within one of the largest media conglomerates and show which types of media each conglomerate owns. Consider all the media types we have covered this semester: Music/Sound Recording Radio TV Movies Newspapers Magazines Books Advertising Public Relations Your goal is to outline and describe ALL of the media outlets that your assigned conglomerate owns and analyze the conglomerate based on the questions below. Some conglomerates will own all of the types of media we have studied, others will own some, and others will own a majority of one type and a few other types. It is your job to figure this all out!

If permitted, record an audio or video file of the interview. If this is not possible, take notes during the interview and write out a transcript. Note: The interview can be conducted in person, over the phone, or through an online conferencing application (e.g., Skype, WebEx, or video chat).   Create a 2- to 3-minute video summary about the interview and what was discussed. Appraise communication strategies utilized in your organization and share any insight you gained on how the process can be improved. Note: Present yourself as if you are reporting back to your employer. Be sure to wear professional attire.   Format your assignment according to APA guidelines.
