[SOLVED] Mini Case Study

1.  Research the financial statements for a company of your choice. a.   You can locate the annual statements (called “10-K” forms) for all public U.S. companies in the SEC’s EDGAR system. Annual statements will often include commentary explaining recent financial changes and events. b.   Many free financial websites, such as Morningstar, provide financial data and ratios for public companies. Search for your company on Morningstar and then select “Operating Performance” for a list of ratios for previous years. c.    Consider accessing company reports through OCLS using the Business Insights: Essentials tool. Detailed financial and investment reports are available for hundreds of companies. 2.  Prepare a paper analyzing the company’s past three years of financial results: a.   Begin by creating a table listing at least 10 financial ratios for the last three years (three years trend, 10 ratios, 30 ratios total). You can either calculate these ratios yourself using the financial data found, or use the ratios you find from your sources. b.   The ratios you study are up to you. Use whatever ratios you find most revealing. However, you should include return on equity (ROE) and its three components: total asset turnover, profit margin, and financial leverage (asset/equity or debt/equity).  c.    Evaluate and comment on any interesting trends you find. What ratios have changed significantly over the past three years? What does this indicate? Do the ratios suggest financial strength? What potential weaknesses do you see? What could the company do to improve these ratios? d.   Conclude with a recommendation, based on your analysis, as to whether the company is prepared to take on a large growth opportunity. 3.  Be sure to provide a detailed recommendation that demonstrates your critical thinking and understanding of financial analysis. 4.  Prepare your paper in Microsoft Word in a professional manner, using proper spelling, grammar, and APA style. Include a reference list. Be sure to appropriately cite your sources for your financial data and any commentary or analysis you rely upon.

[SOLVED] Building a Better Tomorrow through Strategic Partnerships

This case study provides you with the opportunity to synthesize and apply the concepts learned in this course to analyze real-world business cases. The case study will improve your understanding and ability to think critically about the importance of building a better world through strategic partnerships. Websites Lilly | Improving Global Health  (Links to an external site.) Lilly Improving Access to Quality Healthcare in Limited Resource Settings  (Links to an external site.) AMPATH and Lilly Partnership  (Links to an external site.) For nearly a century the pharmaceutical company, Eli Lilly, has been forming alliances with over one hundred partners around the world devoted to discovery, development, and marketing. One of those partners is The Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH). AMPATH was created in response to the HIV crisis in Western Kenya in 2001. It was built on a partnership with Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, the Moi University School of Medicine in Eldoret, Kenya, and a consortium of North American academic health centers, led by Indiana University. AMPATH has continually expanded its successful HIV approach to include more diseases, including diabetes, hypertension and cancer. By 2002, Eli Lilly had already donated nearly sixty million dollars’ worth of medicines to help improve the lives of these patients. In 2009, it launched the AMPATH Oncology Institute with only a single physician and nurse. Since many people in Kenya live in poverty there is a major lack of access to quality healthcare and with only two cancer centers for the country’s 42 million people; screening, diagnosis, treatment and palliative care for cancer are in very scarce supply. Using public/private partnerships the institute has been able to expand its staff and services to include 10 clinicians, six core nurses and an oncology pharmacist, however, the demand still outweighs the supply. In February 2015, the Eli Lilly Foundation announced an additional commitment of one million dollars to help equip a new oncology center, hire additional staff and train local healthcare professionals. The result of this partnership has helped many, many people. Critical Thinking Discussion The alliance between Eli Lilly and AMPATH is an example of two organizations strategically partnering together to make a difference in building a better tomorrow. For this critical thinking discussion: Research and provide an example of the alliance of two organizations (even Eli Lilly and other service organizations). Another example of an alliance of two organizations is Giving Tuesday  (Links to an external site.) ; Giving Tuesday | About  (Links to an external site.) . Discuss the results of how the alliances work together to make a difference in building a better tomorrow Formatting Your APA-formatted report for this case must be at least 500 words and must include the following headings: Overview: Provide an overview of the two organizations and their alliance in building a better tomorrow. Critical Thinking Discussion: Discuss your findings from your research of 1. and 2. above. Debrief: Share your thoughts, opinions, and any action that you may take to build a better tomorrow based on reflection of your research.
