Q1. In what ways does Portland act like itself in: national media and film? Consider the ways in which racism and white supremacy have been left out of that narrative.

Is the medium the message? How do new media alter the relations between a product and its consumers or audience when it is remediated through new media technologies? Draw on three different works of popular culture that have undergone remediation, or look at one work that has gone through three forms of remediation. How has each remediation changed its content or its relationship to different audiences? What remains the same? Does remediation lead to a profoundly different set of relationships between culture, consumers, and industry?

Should governments have the power to censor journalists and news reporters? Why? When? Narrow this one. You might choose to focus on the possibility of censorship in the United States, or in a single other country, or focus on censorship only under specific circumstances. You also may look at historic information, at examples of censorship in history.  This essay should be 1500-2000 words, double-spaced, using MLA format for citations and Works Cited page. You should use at least three sources.

Worksheet #3 is the template. Pick a common natural disaster in San Diego California. Research about it. What health-related issues would this cause?  This relates to disaster planning, triage, and treatment. Identify 3-5 anticipated health-related issues and for each of the issues identify 3-5 nursing interventions that can help with each health issue in event of the disaster.

3.  The Civil War was the bloodiest and most destructive conflict in history.  In the end, the Northern forces emerged victorious, and the Union was preserved.  Write an essay in which you identify some of the factors behind the Union victory.  How was it that the northern armies were able to overcome the vigorous resistance of the Confederate armies and eventually secure victory in 1865?
