4. Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced. (Within 350 words, feel free to let me know if you have any question) Things to consider: An educational opportunity can be anything that has added value to your educational experience and better prepared you for college. For example, participation in an honors or academic enrichment program, or enrollment in an academy that’s geared toward an occupation or a major, or taking advanced courses that interest you — just to name a few.  If you choose to write about educational barriers you’ve faced, how did you overcome or strive to overcome them? What personal characteristics or skills did you call on to overcome this challenge? How did overcoming this barrier help shape who you are today? My source: Everyone has their ideas, and the relationship between dreams and reality is always cruel. It is often more challenging to give up their ideals because of fact, but I still want to fight for my dreams. That night three years ago, I gave up everything I had in China and came to the United States with my family. When I came to Los Angeles to face life’s challenges and the balance between the study, I seemed to go back to ten years ago, that teenager who was once passionate and dedicated to computer and science. I firmly believe that the door of science will open for me again. The purpose of chasing a bachelor’s degree is not to win many titles, but to return to a place and give me an inner strength when I am beaten back into the quagmire by life. Despite my enthusiasm for computer sciences, I’m not the teenager I used to be. I’m a father of a two-year-old girl. I should give her more company and love when she was growing up. I owe her so much. To not let her quality of life decline, I have to make money in my spare time. Maybe in the eyes of many people, I am not a good father. I should not pursue my major selfishly and continue my studies in the United States while neglecting my daughter’s care. However, my opinion is different from that of most people. I firmly believe that my efforts and success will become my daughter’s confidence in the future. I am painting a future picture for her, setting a heroic example, and creating a dream within reach. My computer science talent and my success in the past have given me a kind of elite arrogance. With the change of times and the rapid development of scientific and technological innovation, I face more difficulties returning to the beginning. But for the sake of my ideal, I am willing to explore the unknowns of my future. Therefore, I strive to transfer to the university for further study in the shortest possible time and continuously strengthen and update my technical level.  I can grow into a better human being and a humbler scholar as a father. The cruelty of life may occasionally disappoint those who work hard, but it will not disappoint those who have been working hard all the time.
