You don’t have to read all of the episodes – If you need resources from the internet, you may use them, but only minimum and don’t forget to cite them Reflect on the entireity of Eyes On The Prize Episodes (1,2, 5, 7, 9, 13) and the narrative of the Civil Rights movement that it presents. As we learned from Jacqueline Dowd Hall , the way that the civil rights movement is presented and learned about has broad implications not just for history, but also for politics, and particularly for race relations in our country. Make a proposal for a new documentary on the “long civil rights movement.” Include an introduction to the series, what you hope to accomplish, and a breakdown of 4 or more episodes and what they would cover. What part of the approach of Eyes on the Prize would you want to keep? What new aspects or perspectives would you add to your series? (You can assume a good budget and access to experts you want to interview. Bear in mind that at this stage of history, many of the participants in the movement are elderly or have passed away, so conducting new interviews may not be possible.)

Internet Assignment Requirements Students must use at least two (2) internet sources and must document direct quotes or paraphrased information that are/is included in the papers in the Modern Language Association (MLA) style. The paper must be at least 3 whole pages in length counting neither the cover page (name, course & class time) nor the works cited page both of which are required. It must have one-inch margins (top, bottom, left, and right) and must utilize the Times New Roman font size 12 ONLY. Papers must be double-spaced. Papers that violate any of the above requirements will be penalized 2 points per requirement and/or 10 points per page or its fractions correspondingly. Students must avoid plagiarism and collusion. Students whose paper grade is very substantially different (in the sole judgment of this professor) from their test scores may be required to visit with me and demonstrate sole authorship of the paper by answering questions about it. In your opinion, was the United States justified in its actions during the Cold War? Why or why not? 5) Discuss the issues that poor people have historically faced in Latin America in the 1800s and 1900s (after independence). What are the barriers that the poor have faced? What attempts have they made to try to address the problems? What kinds of resistance have the poor in Latin America faced when they tried to improve their conditions? In what countries were the issues of the poor most successfully addressed? How? What roles has the United States played in dealing with the issues of the poor in Latin America?
