INSTRUCTIONS: Your task is to answer six questions which require the application of the concepts, models, and factors in organizational behavior.   Research Approach You must bring in ideas, information, examples from sources. There are many other sources to draw on – The Wall Street Journal and other business media; relevant books such as biographies, journals that focus on organizational behavior or on practices in an organization. Do not solely rely on the organization’s website or corporate communication for your information. It will not be objective – “We are wonderful and are saving the world and everyone is happy here” – so you will need to dig into other sources.   Format Requirements The paper should be 2-3 double-spaced pages in length, excluding the cover page, [minimum 500 words excluding references, appendices, or other supplementary information]. Use 12-point Times New Roman. Make sure you also have citations in text for each use of a source. You need at least 5 citations using a minimum of 3 sources. All of this demands APA format including paper format, as outlined in A Writer’s Reference. Number each response; do not repeat the question. The final page must be a List of Sources that is completed according to APA style.     3. The five company values of Harley Davidson follow: ·         Tell the truth ·         Be fair ·         Keep your promises ·         Respect the individual ·         Encourage intellectual curiosity What actions would the senior leadership team need to take to ensure these values are real, visible, and embraced by all employees?     4. If a company wanted to transition from a “bureaucratic culture” to a “customer-centric culture,” explain 3-to-5 specific actions the senior leaders would need to take?   5. The diagram below represents what happens at many companies. (Assume: The big arrow represents the business strategy and the small arrows represents various projects and programs linked to the business strategy). All of the arrows do not appear to be going in the same direction. Why does this happen? Does the business strategy affect the behavior of front-line employees? The more misalignment, the more you will find chaos, confusion, wasted time, and misused resources. Misaligned organizations are ineffective and inefficient. Some of the common factors that produce misalignment include:   1.       The goals clear or shared by all employees. 2.       The managers and staff lack the knowledge and skills needed to implement the strategy. 3.       People do not understand the strategy and are uncertain as to what they need to do day-to-day. 4.       The management team lacks shared values which produces a weak culture. 5.       The company structure does not provide opportunities for promotions and pay raises which has a big impact on employee motivation. 6.       The company has too many metrics and/or poorly selected metrics to track performance. 7.       The company is rewarding the wrong behaviors. 8.       The performance appraisal system is not aligned with the company’s values and core competencies. From the 1-8 list of factors, identify the top three factors that cause misalignment in many organizations? What actions should senior management take to prevent misalignment? Describe and support your recommendations with both evidence from credible information sources and your own work experience.
