Term Paper: Each student must prepare a formal 9 – page paper (content, not including reference page or table of contents) on a topic of your choice related to Transportation and Logistics. ? Quality and depth of content (60 points) ? Organization of the report (10 points) ? Overall format, i.e., typed, use of page numbers, title page, table of contents, appropriate labels on figures and tables, etc. (10 points) ? Correct grammar and evidence of proofing, i.e., no spelling errors (5 points) ? Variety and documentation of references used. Format for citations and references must follow APA 7th ed. guidelines (15 points) Plagiarism – Presenting as ones own the ideas, words, or products of another. Plagiarism includes use of any source to complete academic assignments without proper acknowledgement of the source. Term Paper – All papers must be written in APA 7th Edition. The intent of paper is to promote examination of viewpoints and interchange of opinions between students on Operations Management for Transportation. Quality Enhancement Process/ Term paper The intent of the paper is to promote the Quality Enhancement Process (QEP) examination of viewpoints and interchange of opinions between students on Transportation and Logistics. Suggested topics include: Hazardous Material Transportation, International Logistics, Warehouse Inventory Management, Logistics Technology, Outsourcing, Negotiation of Strategies. Goals: The goal of this course is to familiarize the student with railroad transportation for the movement of goods and people. The course provides the student with the knowledge necessary to understand the critical issues faced by railroad managers and operators today, including economic, regulatory, and labor matters. Students also examine the physical characteristics of rail systems, as well as explore competitive challenges faced by the railroad industry.
