7. A psychologist is interested in seeing if people who are alcoholic are more likely to be depressed. How would you operationally define your variables (i.e., alcoholic, depressed)? What type of study would you use (e.g., experimental, correlational, case study, survey), and why?

What is Replicable Research? Research is replicable when an independent group of researchers can copy the same process and arrive at the same results as the original study.
Empirical generalizations are results that cannot be replicated by independent researchers using valid, but different, methods.
When studies are replicated and achieve the same or similar results as the originalstudy, it gives greater validity to the findings. If a researcher can replicate a studysresults, it means that it is more likely that those results can be generalized to the larger population.
