Ok…what is a opinion/documented essay?  Well, an opinion essay is a formal piece of writing which presents the author’s point of view on a particular subject supported by reasoning, facts and examples.  A documented essay is an piece of writing that is supported by reasoning, facts, examples, etc., taken from the writings of authorities in that particular field.  (This is fancy way of saying…research!) You will conduct online research to find information on your chosen topic and formulate an opinion about your chosen topic.  Using this information, students will write a well organized, thought out opinion/documented paper.  Your paper should include a introduction that introduces your topic, a clear thesis that states your opinion on the topic, a organized body,  and conclusion that sums up your topic and opinion.  Requirements: 1.  Conduct online research ( You must use as least two (2)  credible sources. Be careful in choosing your sources.  Not everything online is trustworthy!!  Use sources that are credible. What sources can be considered as credible? materials published within last 10 years; research articles written by respected and well-known authors; websites registered by government and educational institutions (.gov, .edu, .ac); academic databases (i.e. Academic Search Premier or JSTOR); materials from Google Scholar. What sources should be avoided? out-of-date materials (published over 10 years ago); posts from social networks (i.e. facebook); blogs; research articles without citations;
