Annual Report Analysis
Find a Nebraska-based organization’s annual report online (one that is headquartered in Nebraska if it has multiple locations). It can be from a publicly traded for-profit or non-profit organization. Once you find an organization, you can easily find their annual report by searching “organization name + annual report.” You should not have to purchase this document to view it; the most reliable source for the annual report is the organization’s website. Make sure the annual report is no older than 2018, and contains graphics as well as written content. You will need to review the front content that contains the broad overview of the organization, but not any pages in the back containing financial statements (typically a text-heavy, lengthy section of balance sheets, cash flow statements, etc. These may be labeled as Form 10-K, Proxy, or Proxy Statement). What you are looking for will likely have a creative layout, graphics, and summaries of information. After reviewing the report, answer the following questions. Parts B-E should each be answered with two complete sentences. Please label your responses Part A, Part B, etc., as this makes your answers easier to identify. Part A) List all of the following: the Nebraska-based organization the year of the annual report the website where you found the annual report Part B) Who is the target audience for this report? What evidence do you have for this? Part C) How is the report organized? How do you evaluate this approach? Part D) What evidence does the report provide to validate/support its claims? For example, do they cite any internal sources or provide data? Part E) After reading the annual report only, what is your opinion of this organization’s financial situation and accomplishments from the last year?
