The Social Environment
Hutchinson states that the purpose of the social work profession is to promote human and community well-being…actualized through its quest for social and economic justice, the prevention of conditions that limit human rights, the elimination of poverty, and the enhancement of the quality of life for all persons” (p. 1)). Hutchinson also indicates that human behavior includes not just individual but corporate behaviors. Instructions: Based on the above statements by the CSWE and Hutchinson, write a post reflecting on the following questions: Throughout the phases of the life cycle that you have lived so far, how have humans in your life and in your shared environments promoted your individual well-being and the well-being of other significant persons in your life. In other words, how have others affected your personal behavior and health, either positively or negatively? What have you learned so far about human behavior and the social environment that has prepared you to engage and empower a client who has had similar experiences as yourself?
