Unconscionable Contract

This Discussion Board is based on a court case involving Jennifer Lopez and Maureen Marder.  The facts of the case are provided in a link below.  You can also find a link below for the full case of Marder v. Marder signed a general release when she sold the rights to Paramount Pictures Corporation.  What is a release?  Is that a contract?  If a general release is a contract, who is the offeror(who made an offer) and who is the offeree (person who received the offer)?   How did Lopez get involved in the lawsuit?  How did Sony get involved?
