The Yellow Book
Your job is to produce a wisely selective on Volume 12 of The Yellow Book and its contents, literary and artistic, its authors, the editorial team and cover art (NOTE: Aubrey Beardsley left/was kicked off at a certain point its your job to explain when, why, how), and anything else you consider noteworthy. You will ALSO be responsible for discussing at least 2-3 works more specifically, and giving some analytical justification as to why you would argue they require special attention. FINALLY, your report should include some discussion of the material condition of the volume: are the pages all cut? (which tells you whether its actually been read), is it torn or discolored or foxed in any way, what does the paper look like? And so on. Your written report should be at least FOUR double-spaced pages of your own writing, a copy of the full table of contents, and include at least three additional scanned or photographed openings (i.e. two facing pages) of the volume you choose. You should provide all publication information about the volume (date, editor, etc.) and give a narrative (i.e. essay-form) account of its contents. You will employ your existing skills as a close reader to discuss selected content (story, poem, etching, etc); you will find that those same skills apply when it comes to reporting on the condition of the volume itself.
