Article Review

1.       INSTRUCTIONS Although the review is quite an open genre, we have felt that for the student to feel safe and for the lecturer to have sufficient assessment criteria, the review should contain (not necessarily in this order, but this may help): a)       Location of document (full bibliographical reference, whether it is a book chapter, an article, etc.). b)      Type of research carried out by author(s). Any other publications by same author? c)       If applicable: description of hypothesis, methodology, results, conclusions. If not, summary. d)      Limitations of the study, both according to author and to student (please distinguish clearly whose opinions are expressed in each case) e)       If very recent article, please look at the main references on which study is based (authors of the theoretical foundations, previous studies), and specify which contribution is made by the document in question). If not so recent, please look up whether it has been quoted and/or critiqued. f)       Any other remarks (including, for instance, whether you feel this paper could lead to any other study or research that could be carried out, but which is not suggested by the author of the paper, whether you feel it could apply to the situation in Spain, whether it would change substantially if applied to a different level and why …) Students are encouraged to search for information on how to write a review on an article or a book chapter by googling “how to write a review on an article” or conducting similar searches. 2.       GENERAL REMARKS –          Papers to be written in English. Serious mistakes not compatible with a B2 level may result in a fail mark (which itself will depend on the seriousness of the mistakes), whichever the quality of the content.
