Geologic Field Report Virtual Field Trip
Read through the material, watch the videos and study the pictures provided. Then, write a two page report on your feature of choice by answering the questions listed below. Introduction – Provide the general what, where, and why. What formation are you studying? Why is it important? Where is it located? Are there any unique properties to the area? 2. Sediments, Rocks, and Features – Describe your area. What sediments or rocks are present? Rock types? Describe the lithology (physical characteristics) of any rocks or outcroppings present. What environment were these rocks formed in? Provide any other details that would allow the reader to fully understand what you’ve seen. 3. History – Provide details on the geologic history of your chosen field experience. What major events occurred in the area that may have caused these features to form? When did the majority of these events occur? Are their any events currently happening that may further affect these features? Describe events from earliest to most recent, and use evidence from the environment to support your time line. 4. Conclusions – In this final portion, summarize what you have learned. What conclusions have you drawn about these formations? What does this say about the environment the formations are in?
