The Made-for-TV Movie

find and watch a made for tv movie from the 80s or 70s. What movie did you choose? In what year was it shown? Why did you pick this one? Be honest. If it was suggested to you, great. If you picked the first one you could find, that’s ok too. Just fess up and be real about it. All production techniques aside, (unless they were important, innovative, and landmark within themselves), how did your choice make it’s mark on television? Again, be honest. If it’s still a classic today, there has to be a reason. Find and state those reasons in your response. Or if critics have labeled it formulaic, etc., say that too. Why did/do TV expects feel that way about this particular tv movie? HOWEVER, before any responses are posted, be sure to have done your RESEARCH!! If you get all “judge-y”, and clearly show that you didn’t bother to find out about a film that very definitely changed the game, then it will be reflected in your grade. And as a reminder, NO WIKIPEDIA, NO ROTTEN TOMATOES, NO IMDB!! As is continuously said in class, you can’t use your “2020 filter” to remark and respond to television of the past, unless it’s to show the history, and changes in the industry, culture, and society. While no “word count” will be given, make sure your answers cover the subject, give credit to the research, and reflect the ideas and concepts we’ve already discussed and unpacked during class. Also use your notes from class and the CNN documentaries to help you enhance your points about television during the decade that your chosen movie was made and released. And finally, after you post, take the time to read what others have written. If someone else watched and has posted about the same movie you chose, then add to their observations, and be thoughtful and respectful of the reviews – even if you disagree.
