“TITLE: ART AND CRAFT OF CREW PLANNING; Crew pairing and rostering problems. AIM: Crew planning involves creating line of work(LoW) known as rosters for aircraft and crew. The crew rosters consist of activities that can include flying, ground duties, training, free days and personal activities. The crew planning process usually decomposes into two processes; Crew pairing and rostering. The aim of this paper is to identify some of the crew planning problems and analyze solutions that minimizes pairing cost while considering requirements that accounts for different regulations. Content/subtask: – Theoretical framework: General (definition of terms, identification of problems, purpose of research etc.), existing problems and relevant optimization adopted across European airlines.” – Consider airspace flow control with theory. – Development: Roadmap to implement new procedure in crew planning.
