Definition. Perceived susceptibility, also called perceived vulnerability, refers to ones perception of the risk or the chances of contracting a health disease orcondition (Witte, 1992). It also can include estimates of resusceptibility and susceptibility to illness in general (Rosenstock, Strecher, & Becker, 1994).
