Based on your research, describe population served, what services are provided, and the sources of funding. Then, evaluate the services for the individuals and families in the community. Consider political strategies and potential policies, and how they influence the role of the nurse. Also, compare the three levels of prevention and how they influence the nurse’s role.__________________________________________________________Examples of preventions:” Primary prevention strategies focus on health education with a focus on prevention of disease, disability, or illness. Primary prevention strategies are applied to a generally healthy population with an aim of general health promotion. The overall goal of primary prevention is to prevent the occurrence of a disease, illness, or disability. Examples include vaccinations, smoking cessation, and use of infant car seats, seat belts, family planning, and exercise.Secondary prevention is aimed at early recognition and treatment of disease, with an emphasis on screening. Examples include PSA testing, blood pressure screening, self-breast examinations, mammograms, and pap smears.The goal of tertiary prevention is to prevent deterioration of physical and mental functioning after the occurrence of disease or illness. A focus of tertiary prevention is patient education related to managing a current state of disease or disability at an optimal level. Examples include dietary education on diabetic diets, post-stroke rehabilitation, and speech and occupational therapy. When planning interventions as a result of a community assessment, it is important to address all three levels of prevention.”
