[SOLVED] Compare and Contrast Themes
Choose three works by different authors (this can be three separate authors or two works by one author and one by another) and find a theme in common. These can be either poems or stories. Then, answer the following questions: 1. What are the similarities in which the authors approach and think about the theme? 2. What are the differences in which the authors approach and think about the theme? 3. What are the ultimate statements the authors are making on the themes? Do they agree with each other? The works used for the paper can be any of the short stories in the short story collection A Good Man is Hard to Find” by Flannery O’Connor. The other short stories that can be used are: “A Rose for Emily” by William Faulkner “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson “The Story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin “The Cask of the Amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe “Herbert West: Re-Animator” by H.P. Lovecraft “Sweat” by Zora Neale Hurston Form this as a short, five paragraph essay (each question should be answered in it’s own paragraph, plus an introduction and a conclusion paragraph), using compare/contrast and close reading/analysis techniques, ultimately proving a thesis of yours about the theme itself. You must use MLA citation methods for all quotes and paraphrases and include Works Cited page.
