You are to write an academic paper describing and analyzing the following topic: Risk Factors and Prediction Human behavior can be simple to complex. It can be also be difficult to predict based on personal and changing situational factors. Secondary crime prevention is based on trying to identify potential offenders, places, or situations that have a higher likelihood for criminal activity. In this paper, students need to address the following: 1. Define Secondary Prediction, 2. Briefly compare and contrast clinical and actuarial prediction models, 3. Briefly summarize some categories for risk factors (focus more on general categories rather than specific factors), 4. Describe VIVA and CRAVE (as they relate to hot spots and hot products), and 5. Identify a few products or objects that might be prime targets for crime, and indicate how these products or objects fit the ideas of VIVA and CRAVED. Format and Style: You are to write an academic paper describing and analyzing the above aspects of the topic. Remember that “how” you say it is just as important as “what” you say. 1. Follow a structure – Introduction – tell the reader what you are going to say, – Body – say it, – Conclusion – tell the reader what you said. 2. The content is comprehensive, accurate, and persuasive. 3. The paper develops a central theme or idea. 4. The paper links theory to relevant examples of current experience and industry practice and uses the vocabulary of the theory correctly. 5. The major points are stated clearly, are supported by specific details, examples, or analysis, and are organized logically. 6. The introduction provides sufficient background on the topic and previews major points. 7. The conclusion is logical, flows from the body of the paper, and reviews the major points. 8. Use section headings (introduction, a heading for each aspect, and conclusion) throughout the paper. There are 5 elements to this paper. Thus, 7 headings are expected . 8. Spell check and proofread, 9. Use an academic writing style. Write in 3rd person. Avoid using words like I, me, my, us, we, and our. 10.
