[SOLVED] Theme of Freedom
Choose one section of Beowulf*** (15-30 lines) that is related to the theme of freedom. What does this section say, directly or indirectly, about some aspect of freedom, whether it be personal or professional? How might a characters freedom be enlarged or diminished by another character? By his/her role in society? By cultural expectations? Write a two-page essay (Times New Roman, 12 pt., double-spaced) analyzing the section you have chosen and quoted, using some or all of the questions listed above to help in your analysis. Format of the essay: Introduction that defines how you are using freedom in this context, introduces the section, and ends with a thesis statement. Two-four paragraphs in which you prove your thesis by analysis. Conclusion that answers the question, Why is this sections notion of freedom important for Beowulf as a whole? **As for the source required, it is the book. That’s the only source needed. ***For the chosen section, I had page 115 in mind (it starts with “So, son of Halfdane, prince of the Shieldings, we are glad to bring this booty from the lake […]”) But if there is something better then by all means, please feel free to choose it.
