Develop a program philosophy paper, including views on child development, expectations for teachers and parent involvement, a mission statement, and program goals for an early childhood program. Part 1: Philosophy Write a 4 – 5 page essay stating your philosophy of early childhood education and family support which includes the following: an introduction your beliefs about how children develop and learn and what type of activities and experiences children should experience in a quality program. what teacher methods or techniques you believe should be used with children to promote growth, development and learning and meet the individual and social needs of all children. Your beliefs about guidance of children and supporting their emotional and social development and skills. Your beliefs about forming partnerships with families, family involvement, and family support in a quality program. Your beliefs about what an early childhood teacher is and should be (professionalism) A summary and conclusion This paper discusses your beliefs about what are the best early childhood education experiences for children and their families and should demonstrate an understanding of young children’s characteristics and needs and how you would create healthy, respectful, supportive, and challenging learning environments. It is what you believe to be the best practice for children and families based on principles from research, theories about child development and learning and appropriate practice. Part 2: mission statement and goals Develop a written mission statement and goals for your center or a center in your community derived from your philosophy of education and family support. Both your mission and goals MUST address both children and families. They must simply and briefly summarize how you will meet the needs of children and families and show an understanding of child development.
