[SOLVED] Cultural Setting
For your first assignment, I would like you to be a little introspective and write about a unique experience that you have had in a different cultural setting than that in which you were raised. Try to focus on an experience that you perceived as alien to your own cultural views, we have all had this experience. If you were raised in the United States and traveled to another country, write about an experience you had in that country. If you were raised outside the U.S., you can write about an experience that you had in this country. If you were raised in the U.S. but have not traveled outside this country, you can write about an experience that you had within this country where you encountered cultural differences (say between the coasts and the Midwest, the north and the south, or the east and the west). After reading chapters one and two of your textbook, how might a knowledge of anthropology affected your experience? How to write this paper: This is NOT a chance to rant about people you feel are different from you. I expect you to be respectful and reflexive. This is not a research paper. You are not required to reference any outside sources, but you might refer to your textbook. If you do, cite your source. In your text you cite the page, such as (Schultz and Lavenda 2016:8) and include the book in your works cited page: Lavenda, R. H., & Schultz, E. A. (2013). Anthropology: what does it mean to be human?. Oxford University Press. [this is APA style, but you can use MLA or whichever you prefer. Check out the Research Guide link on the left if you want some guidance. Your paper must be between 350 and 500 words arranged in complete and grammatically correct sentences.
