[SOLVED] Self Portrait and Writing
This assignment has two parts. The first part is to create a self-portrait and the second is to describe how your self-portrait utilizes the principles and elements in Chapter 1 as well as at least two mediums discussed in chapter 2. You should also think about at least two works of art that influenced your self-portrait and why. They might have influenced the style and method of your portrait, or they may communicate ideas that are important to you that you wanted to include in your self-portrait. You are to create a self-portrait that utilizes at least two different media (photography and painting and drawing, collage, etc.) and include images of an early middle and late stage of your art work. That is worth 20 points. You are to write 3-5 paragraphs double spaced 12 point font typed description and analysis of your self-portrait. Place the images and the writing into one document and attach the PDF to submit this assignment. This assignment is intended to give you an opportunity in communicating with visual language and the creative process by creating your self-portrait. If you take a photograph, that can be your start, but you need to include other methods and media. Potentially you could paint or draw on top of the photograph, you could collage images in using digital tools, or physically cut and paste them. You could create a video, that includes drawings, paintings or other media. The subject of your self-portrait should communicate something about who you are or who you want to be. These ideas can be truthful, fictional, or aspirational. Your self-portrait should illustrate these ideas and you can use your 3-5 paragraph writing to explain how the visuals communicate different ideas you wish to express.
