Students will select a book from the list provided at the end of the syllabus and critique it. The book critique should include the following: a. A summary of what the author is sayingb. Fundamental questions regarding the authors thesis; central argument or pointc. Are there errors of omission by the authord. Substance of the work (weaknesses, strengths, etc.)e. Information on the author (background, intent); who it is often determines what is written and why. What is the authors purpose?f. Is the book political? What makes it political?g. An alternative solution if you disagree with the arguments and conclusions of the author or reasons why you support the authors position.The critique should be 5 typewritten, double-spaced pages. Please put publication information (city, publisher, date of publication) along with the title of the book and author on the title page. The title page is not included in the page number count. If a direct quote is used, cite the page number in parentheses immediately following the quote. This is not a book review, but a critique. Thus, do not merely summarize the books content. Offer an analysis of the authors work. Number pages in bottom right hand corner. Use Times New Roman, 12 font.
