Madisonian democracy was based off the idea of having different factions “compete” with one another to bring different ideas and opinions to the forefront of politics, and so that no one faction can become too powerful. With a two-party system, we have two super powerful political parties dominating and “stealing the spotlight” so to speak. This prevents different ideas and opinions from being seen and heard by the public which I believe limits progress, change, and important diverse dialogue as well as the division of power. I do not think it is good for U.S. politics to have two powerful parties dominating politics because it drowns out other great ideas that can come from other smaller parties. It also leaves the citizens forced to often choose between “the lesser of two evils” when they vote, rather than feeling like they can vote for the candidate who has what they believe are the best ideals. I have experienced this often myself when voting and it feels so frustrating sometimes to the point where I end up feeling like I do not even want to vote for anyone.”
