[Get Solution] Bacterial Unknown Report
Microbiology students will identify the genus and species of one unknown bacterium using morphological, biochemical and physiological characteristics, along with the analysis of a 16S rRNA gene sequence. The report will identify the organism, discuss the results of the microscopic examination, explain the significance of the 16S rRNA gene sequence, provide important background information, describe any inconsistent results, and use appropriate references. A Flow Chart describing the identification process is a significant portion of the report and must support the final identification. The unknown report will consist of three sections and all sections must be present to receive full credit. Each section should be introduced with the appropriate heading in bold type. The maximum length of the report is 3-pages double-spaced (12 pt s t a n d a r d business font). Students must appropriately cite any references using the APA method or ASM citation-sequence system in Section III.
